Lake Mungo (film)
''Lake Mungo'' is a 2008 Australian psychological horror film written and directed by Joel Anderson and starring Talia Zucker and Martin Sharpe. It employs mockumentary-style storytelling with found footage and docufiction elements, using actor "interviewees" to present the narrative of a family trying to come to terms with the drowning death of their daughter, and the potentially supernatural events they experience after it. ''Lake Mungo'' premiered at the Sydney Film Festival on 18 June 2008 and screened at the South by Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas, US, in March 2009. Quickflix was an Australian company that provided online DVD and Blu-ray Disc rental by mail as well as internet streaming of movies and television shows via online pay-per-view or subscription. Initially established as an online disc rental company in 2003, Quickflix launched online movie downloads in 2006, and their streaming service in 2011. By June 2014 the company had more than 182,000 subscribers. Although the first major streaming service to operate in Australia, Quickflix quickly lost ground to much larger competitor Netflix entering the market in 2015, among others. After Dark Horrorfest (also known as "8 Films to Die For") was an annual horror film festival featuring eight independent horror movies, sometimes with "secret" bonus films, all distributed by After Dark Films in the USA.
