Watonwan County is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 11,253. Its county seat is St. James. History In 1849, the recently organized Minnesota Territory legislature authorized the creation of nine large counties across the territory. In 1853, one of those original counties, Dakota, had a large area partitioned off to create Blue Earth County. In 1855 the western part of Blue Earth was partitioned to create Brown County. On February 25, 1860, the southern part of Brown was partitioned to create this county, with Madelia as the designated county seat. The county was named for its eponymous river, whose name reflects the Dakota word "watanwan," meaning "fish bait" or "plenty of fish." McLeod County is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. At the 2020 census, the population was 36,771. Its county seat is Glencoe. McLeod County comprises the Hutchinson, MN Micropolitan Statistical Area and is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN- WI Combined Statistical Area. Le Sueur County is a county located in the south central portion of the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 28,674. Its county seat is Le Center. Le Sueur County is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul- Bloomington, MN- WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The Minnesota Territory legislature established several counties in 1853. A meromictic lake is a lake which has layers of water that do not intermix. In ordinary, holomictic lakes, at least once each year, there is a physical mixing of the surface and the deep waters. The term ''meromictic'' was coined by the Austrian Ingo Findenegg in 1935, apparently based on the older word ''holomictic''. The concepts and terminology used in describing meromictic lakes were essentially complete following some additions by G. Evelyn Hutchinson in 1937. Characteristics Most lakes are ''holomictic''; that is, at least once per year, physical mixing occurs between the surface and the deep waters. Mary Lake is a small freshwater human-made lake in Redding, California, United States. It is located near the Mary Lake Subdivision on the west side of Redding off Buenaventura Boulevard. Its inflow and outflow is Jenny Creek, which flows into the Sacramento River. Mary Lake was previously known as Falks Lake. Lake Mary is a freshwater lake and the largest of the Mammoth Lakes in Mono County, California. Lake Mary has a campground on its northwest end and can be used for rainbow trout, brook, and brown trout fishing. The lake also features two marinas with motorboat and kayak rental.
