Lake Malik
Lake Malik (Albanian: Liqeni I Maliqit, Macedonian: Маличко Езеро ''Malicko Ezero'' - meaning "small lake", Greek: Λίμνη Μαλίκη ''Límni Malíki'') is an artificially drained lake in Albania. History The government took the decision to drain the lake after 1939 to combat malaria. The draining operation started in 1946 using convict labour and it created new agricultural areas. Korçë County ( sq, Qarku Korçë, italic=unset), officially the County of Korçë ( sq, Qarku i Korçës, italic=unset), is a county in the Southern Region of the Republic of Albania. It is the largest by area and the seventh most populous of the twelve counties, with more than 202,000 people within an area of . Maliq
Maliq ( sq-definite, Maliqi) formerly known as Malik, is a town and a municipality in Korçë County of eastern Albania. It is the smaller of two cities in the district, the other being Korçë, southeast of Maliq. The current enlarged municipality was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former administrative units of Gorë, Libonik, Maliq, Moglicë, Pirg, Pojan and Vreshtas. The seat of the municipality is the town Maliq. The total population is 41,757 (2011 census), in a total area of 656.89 km2. The population of the former municipality at the 2011 census was 4,290. Albanian Language
Albanian ( endonym: or ) is an Indo-European language and an independent branch of that family of languages. It is spoken by the Albanians in the Balkans and by the Albanian diaspora, which is generally concentrated in the Americas, Europe and Oceania. Macedonian Language
