Lake Elphinstone
Lake Elphinstone is a natural lake in Queensland, Australia. It is located about west of Mackay in Isaac Region (formerly Nebo Shire). The lake used to support the town of Elphinstone, however the town no longer exists, and the lake is a recreation area popular for bird-watching, fishing and camping. } Mackay () is a city in the Mackay Region on the eastern or Coral Sea coast of Queensland, Australia. It is located about north of Brisbane, on the Pioneer River. Mackay is described as being in either Central Queensland or North Queensland, as these regions are not precisely defined. More generally, the area is known as the Mackay–Whitsunday Region. Mackay is nicknamed the sugar capital of Australia because its region produces more than a third of Australia's sugar. Name The city was named after John Mackay. Nebo Shire
The Shire of Nebo was a local government area in Central Queensland, Queensland, Australia, about south-west of the regional city of Mackay. The Shire, administered from the town of Nebo, covered an area of , and existed as a local government entity from 1883 until 2008, when it was amalgamated with the Shires of Belyando and Broadsound to form the Isaac Region.
