Lake County High School is a secondary school in Tiptonville, Tennessee. Established in 1963, the school serves students in grades 9-12. History Lake County, Tennessee, Lake County led the state with the first county high school in 1900, when the court voted to establish a high school in Tiptonville, Tennessee, Tiptonville, which would be free to all students in the county. The $7,500.00 needed to build the school was raised by public subscription. The two-story brick building was built on Church Street on what is now used as the cemetery. An annex was added for the elementary grades. In 1925, a new school with both room for high and elementary school was built on Cherry Street. Tiptonville, Tennessee
Tiptonville is a town in and the county seat of Lake County, Tennessee, United States. Its population was 2,439 as of the 2000 census and 4,464 in 2010, showing an increase of 2,025. It is also home to the Northwest Correctional Complex, a maximum security prison, known for once housing mass murderer Jessie Dotson. History Tiptonville was established in 1857, but was not incorporated until 1900. It was designated the county seat when Lake County was created in 1870. Tiptonville was the scene of the surrender of Confederate forces at the end of the 1862 Battle of Island Number Ten in the American Civil War. The monument for this battle is located on State Route 22 approximately three miles north of Tiptonville, since the island itself, the focal point of the battle, has been eroded by the flow of the Mississippi River and no longer exists. Jerry Reese (born July 22, 1963) is a former American football executive, player, and coach. He was a member of the New York Giants for 23 years, serving as their General manager (American football), general manager from 2007 to 2017 where he won two Super Bowls. The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA), along with the affiliated Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association (TMSAA), is an organization which administers junior and senior high school sporting events in Tennessee. Upward Bound is a federally funded educational program within the United States. The program is one of a cluster of programs now referred to as TRiO, all of which owe their existence to the federal Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 (the War on Poverty Program) and the Higher Education Act of 1965.
