Laila Nur
Laila Nur (October 5, 1934 – May 31, 2019) was a Bangladeshi language-movement activist and academic. She joined Comilla Victoria Government College in 1957 as its first female professor. Early life Laila Nur was born on 5October 1934 in Daudkandi Thana, Comilla. Her father was Abu Naser, a medical doctor, and her mother was Shamsunnahar Mehedi. She passed her Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) in 1952. Daudkandi Upazila
Daudkandi ( bn, দাউদকান্দি) is an upazila of Comilla District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Geography Daudkandi is located at . It has 77,102 households and a total area of 376.23 km2. which is located at the extreme near of the upazila by the Dhaka Chittagong Highway. Daudkandi village area is within the municipality and value of property here, like the rest of the municipality, have increased significantly. Comilla
Comilla (; bn, কুমিল্লা, Kumillā, ), officially spelled Cumilla, is the fifth largest city of Bangladesh and second largest in Chittagong division. It is the administrative centre of the Comilla District. The name Comilla was derived from ''Komolangko'' (কমলাঙ্ক), meaning the pond of lotus. Dhaka University
The University of Dhaka (also known as Dhaka University, or DU) is a public research university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest university in Bangladesh. The university opened its doors to students on July 1st 1921. Currently it is the largest public research university in Bangladesh, with a student body of 46,150 and a faculty of 1,992. Nawab Bahadur Sir Khwaja Salimullah, who played a pioneering role in establishing the university in Dhaka, donated 600 acres of land from his estate for this purpose. Comilla Victoria Government College
Comilla Victoria Government College is a college in Comilla, Bangladesh. It is one of the oldest and renowned colleges in Comilla as well as in Chittagong division. The college is located beside of Ranir Dighi on 32 acres of land including its intermediate and honors section. History Fazlul Karim was the first Muslim teacher of this college in 1937. He later became the Vice Principal of the college in 1958 until his retirement in 1972 when the college was made a government college. Academics At present, the college has 15,000 students and 147 teachers, of whom 36 are women. Freedom fighters Many students of Comilla Victoria College joined the Bangladesh liberation war in 1971. A memorial has been built inside the campus commemorating the sublime contribution of these freedom fighters. Housing Comilla Victoria College has five dormitories: four for boys and one for girls.
