Laguna Lake (California)
Laguna Lake is a shallow natural lake at the head of the Chileno Valley. It retains some water year round. The 200-acre lake is wide and long, straddling the Sonoma-Marin county line in northern California, United States. It is the source of Chileno Creek which flows west to Walker Creek. It was included in the Rancho Laguna de San Antonio Mexican land grant, which was given to Bartolomé Bojorquez in 1845. Laguna Lake is used extensively for migrating and breeding waterfowl and Agriculture. agr. Chileno Creek
Chileno Creek is a stream in western Marin County, California, United States. It originates west of Petaluma, California at 220-acre Laguna Lake which straddles Marin and Sonoma Counties, from which it flows west before joining Walker Creek, a tributary of Tomales Bay. History Chileno Creek is named for Chilean immigrants who settled the Chileno Valley, with encouragement from Adrian Godoy. Chileno Valley Ranch was purchased by Carlo Martinoiya, an immigrant from Cevio, Switzerland from Henry Halleck in 1862. Henry Halleck served as General-in-Chief of all Union armies during the American Civil War and also served as President Abraham Lincoln's Chief of Staff. Carlo Martinoiya anglicized his name to Charles Martin and his great-great-granddaughter Sally Gale and her husband now run one of the ranches in the Chileno Valley. Walker Creek is a northwest-flowing stream in western Marin County, California, United States. It originates at the confluence of Salmon Creek and Arroyo Sausal and empties into Tomales Bay south of Dillon Beach, California. History Walker Creek is named for an early landowner in the area, Lewis W. Walker. Chileno Creek is named for Chilean immigrants who settled the Chileno Valley, with encouragement from Adrian Godoy. Rancho Laguna de San Antonio was a Ranchos of California, Mexican land grant in present-day Marin County, California, Marin County and Sonoma County, California given in 1845 by Governor Pío Pico to Bartolomé Bojorquez.
