Lafayette Thomas
Lafayette Jerl Thomas (June 13, 1928 – May 20, 1977)Harris, S. (1981). Blues Who's Who. New York: Da Capo Press, pp. 509–510, was an American blues singer, and guitarist. Early life Thomas was born on June 13, 1928 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He sang in a local church choir as a youth, and was first introduced to blues guitar by his uncle, musician Jesse "Babyface" Thomas. Career Thomas began his music career in 1947 after a move to San Francisco, California, playing with Al Simmons’ Rhythm Rockers. The following year he joined Jimmy McCracklin's band, and continued to work and record with McCracklin for most of the rest of his life. He also frequently recorded on sessions with other singers, including Jimmy Wilson, from the late 1940s into the 1950s. As well as recording with McCracklin, Wilson and others, Thomas recorded a number of sessions of his own during the 1950s, appearing as L. J. Shreveport ( ) is a city in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It is the third most populous city in Louisiana after New Orleans and Baton Rouge, respectively. The Shreveport–Bossier City metropolitan area, with a population of 393,406 in 2020, is the fourth largest in Louisiana, though 2020 census estimates placed its population at 397,590. Bob Geddins
Robert L. Geddins (February 6, 1913 – February 16, 1991) was an American San Francisco Bay Area blues and rhythm and blues musician and record producer. Geddins was born in Highbank, Texas, United States, a town ten miles south of Marlin, who came to Oakland, California during World War II, and worked there until his death of liver cancer in 1991, ten days after his 78th birthday. Record labels and artists produced From 1948 onwards, he founded and owned numerous small independent record labels, including Art-Tone, Big Town, Cavatone, Down Town, Irma, Plaid, Rhythm, and Veltone. He also leased his recordings to Los Angeles based labels such as Swing Time, Aladdin, Modern, Imperial, and Fantasy, and also to the Chicago operated Checker label.
