Lady Heungbokwon
Lady Heungbokwon of the Hongju Hong clan (; ) was the daughter of Hong-Gyu, ''Hongju Hong clan'' (홍주 홍씨, 洪州 洪氏)'s founder. who became the 12th wife of Taejo of Goryeo. Her father, Hong-Gyu's first name was Geung-Jun (긍준), a nobles from Seongju. In March 927, Wang Geon attacked and occupied ''Unju Castle'' (운주성), which after this, Hong-Gyu gave his daughter to Wang and become his 12th wife. In addition, Unju was an important place since Chinese envoys always enter and depart to Goryeo from here. She later bore Taejo 1 son and a daughter, Princess Wang (공주 왕씨) who later married Wang Tae, Taejo and Queen Sinmyeong's oldest son.《고려사》권91〈열전〉권4 However, considering Wang Tae's younger brother, Wang Yo and Wang So succeeded the throne in the future, it seems that Wang Tae died at the young age. Goryeo
Goryeo (; ) was a Korean kingdom founded in 918, during a time of national division called the Later Three Kingdoms period, that unified and ruled the Korean Peninsula until 1392. Goryeo achieved what has been called a "true national unification" by Korean historians as it not only unified the Later Three Kingdoms but also incorporated much of the ruling class of the northern kingdom of Balhae, who had origins in Goguryeo of the earlier Three Kingdoms of Korea. The name "Korea" is derived from the name of Goryeo, also spelled Koryŏ, which was first used in the early 5th century by Goguryeo. Gwangjong Of Goryeo
Gwangjong of Goryeo (925 – 4 July 975), personal name Wang So, was the fourth king of Goryeo. Biography Birth and early life Gwangjong was born in 925 as Wang So, fourth son of King Taejo, who had founded Goryeo in 918. His mother was Queen Sinmyeongsunseong of the Chungju Yu clan, who also gave birth to princes Wang Tae, Wang Yo, Wang Jeong, Jeungteong-guksa, as well as the princesses, Princess Nakrang and Princess Heungbang. Moreover, Gwangjong had twenty half-brothers and seven half-sisters from his father's other marriages. As he had three older brothers, Mu, Tae and Yo, he was far from the succession to the throne; however, Wang Tae died early on, and Wang Mu died in 945, three years after being crowned king, leaving the throne to Wang Yo, who ruled Goryeo for four years as Jeongjong. Queen Sinmyeongsunseong
Queen Sinmyeong of the Chungju Yu clan () or long-called as Queen Sinmyeongsunseong (; ) was the third Goryeo queen consort through her marriage as the third wife of Wang Geon, its founder and also became the mother of his 5 sons (include Jeongjong and Gwangjong) and 2 daughters. During Taejo's lifetime, she was addressed as Grand Lady Chungjuwon (충주원대부인, 忠州院大夫人; "Grand Lady of the Chungju Courtyard"). Then, during their sons' reign, she was addressed as Queen Mother Sinmyeongsunseong (신명순성태후, 神明順成太后) and Grand Queen Mother Sinmyeongsunseong (신명순성왕태후, 神明順成王太后). Wang Tae
Wang Tae () was a Korean Royal Prince as the first and oldest son of Taejo of Goryeo and Queen Sinmyeong, also the oldest brother of Yo and So. He married his half sister (only daughter of Lady Heungbok), but they had no any issue. Lady Cheonanbuwon
Lady Cheonanbuwon of the Gyeongju Im clan (; ) was the daughter of Im-Eon who became the 11th wife of Taejo of Goryeo. Her father was a Cheonan Governor and two times came to Taejo as his envoy in 927. She bore Taejo 2 sons. Their first son married a daughter of King Jeongjong and Queen Munseong, but had no any issue. This son later murdered in the aftermath of the revenge law enforced by King Gyeongjong, his half nephew. Goryeosa
The ''Goryeosa'' (), or ''History of Goryeo'', is the main surviving historical record of Korea's Goryeo dynasty. It was composed nearly a century after the fall of Goryeo, during the reign of King Sejong, undergoing repeated revisions between 1392 and 1451. He ordered a committee of scholars led by Kim Jongseo and Jeong Inji to compile it, based on primary and secondary sources that are no longer extant. The ''Goryeo-sa'', written using Hanja script, consists of 139 volumes, 46 of which consist of chronicles, 39 of geography, 2 of Chronological tables, 50 of Biographies, and 2 of lists. The document has been digitized by the National Institute of Korean History and available online with Modern Korean translation in Hangul and original text in Hanja script.
