Ladies European Tour
The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978. It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England. Like many UK-based sports organisations it is a company limited by guarantee, a legal structure which enables it to focus on maximising returns to its members through prize money, rather than on making profits for investors. The tour is run by a Board of Directors and a Players' Council. Most of the players on the tour are European, with members from more than 40 countries internationally. The tour operates tournaments across five continents. History The U.S.-based LPGA was founded in 1950, but women's professional golf was slower to get established in Europe. In 1978 the Women's Professional Golfers' Association (WPGA) was formed as part of Professional Golfers' Association of Great Britain and Ireland. Scandinavian TPC Hosted By Annika
The Scandinavian TPC hosted by Annika was a women's professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour held in Sweden. The tournament was played annually 1996–2008 and starting 2005 with Annika Sörenstam as the hostess. It was known as the HP Open 2003–2004 and the Compaq Open 1996–2002. Felicity Johnson (golfer)
Felicity Johnson (born 26 February 1987) is an English professional golfer who has played on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour. Johnson started playing golf at five years old and left school at 16 to pursue an amateur career. This was successful and she was named ''The Daily Telegraph'' Lady Golfer of the Year in 2005 after winning the 2005 English Women's Amateur Championship, was a member of the 2005 winning Vagliano Trophy team, and won 2005 Spirit International as part of the England Team. Johnson turned professional in 2006 in and finished third at the 2008 ANZ Ladies Masters, the 2008 Göteborg Masters and the 2009 SAS Ladies Masters before earning her maiden win at the 2009 Tenerife Ladies Open at Golf Costa Adeje. Hole-in-one
In golf, a hole in one or hole-in-one (also known as an ace, mostly in American English) occurs when a ball hit from a tee to start a hole finishes in the cup. A ball hit from a tee following a lost ball, out-of-bounds, or water hazard is not a hole-in-one due to the application of a stroke penalty. Holes-in-one most commonly occur on par 3 holes, the shortest distance holes on a standard size golf course. Longer hitters have also accomplished this feat on longer holes, though nearly all par 4 and par 5 holes are too long for golfers to reach in a single shot. While well known outside golf and often requiring a well hit shot and significant power, holes in one need also a significant element of luck. Ladies French Open
The Open de France Dames is a women's professional golf tournament in France on the Ladies European Tour. It has been played annually since 1987, with four exceptions: 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1998. Since the 2011 edition, Lacoste has been the title sponsor of the event. Between 2012 and 2017 the tournament was held at Golf de Chantaco, near Saint-Jean-de-Luz in the Basque Country, which belongs to the Lacoste family. As Chantaco underwent construction works after the 2017 event, the tournament was moved to the Golf du Médoc Resort. Caroline Hedwall
Caroline Ingrid Hedwall (born 13 May 1989) is a Swedish professional golfer who plays on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the LPGA Tour. In 2013 she became the first player to win five matches in a single Solheim Cup event. As an amateur she was a dominating player, winning the European Ladies Amateur Championship as well as the individual titles at both the Espirito Santo Trophy and the NCAA Championship. The WPGA Championship of Europe was a women's professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour. The tournament was first played in 1979 in France, the first WPGA event held outside the United Kingdom. It was revived 1996 at Gleneagles in Scotland, titled the McDonald's WPGA Championship, and was the first event on the tour to be played solely for charity. Kirsty Anne Taylor (born 18 June 1971) is an English professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour. She competed as Kirsty Speak before she married Alistair Taylor in 1997. Taylor learned her golf at Clitheroe Golf Club where her parents Ted and Jean Anne Speak and her brother were also members. As an amateur, she was English Intermediate Champion 1992 and 1993, runner-up at the 1993 British Ladies Amateur Championship, and British Strokeplay Champion in 1994. Nina Reis
Nina Reis (born 16 February 1980) is a retired Swedish professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and LPGA Tour. She was runner-up at the 2008 Göteborg Masters after an LET joint record 11-under-par round of 61 and finished top-10 at the 2006 Women's British Open. Amateur career Reis was part of the Swedish team, together with Kristina Engström, Anna Gertsson, Mikaela Parmlid, Helena Svensson and Linda Wessberg, which won the 2001 European Ladies' Team Championship at Golf de Mais, Spain. ANZ Ladies Masters
The RACV Gold Coast Challenge was a golf tournament played in Australia. It was one of the leading tournaments on the ALPG Tour and was co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET) since 2001. Between 1997 and 2000 it was an event on the LPGA Tour. It has been played at the RACV Royal Pines Resort in Benowa, Queensland, a suburb of Gold Coast since 1992. In 2007 the Masters was the richest women's golf tournament in Australia, with a prize fund of A$800,000. Although the 2008 prize fund dropped to A$600,000, the tournament remained the richest in Australia.
