Lac De La Haute-Sûre
Lac de la Haute-Sûre ( lb, Stauséigemeng), (german: Stauseegemeinde) is a Communes of Luxembourg, commune, in the Wiltz (canton), canton of Wiltz in north-western Luxembourg. The commune is named after the Upper Sûre Lake, a reservoir (water), reservoir on the upper Sauer river. The commune's administrative centre is Bavigne. Lac de la Haute-Sûre was formed on 1 January 1979 from the former communes of Harlange and Mecher, both in Wiltz canton. The law creating Lac de la Haute-Sûre was passed on 23 December 1978. The municipality consists of the following districts: Bastogne, Longvilly, Noville, Villers-la-Bonne-Eau, and Wardin. The town is situated on a ridge in the Ardennes at an elevation of . History At the time of the Roman conquest the region of Bastogne was inhabited by the Treveri, a tribe of Gauls. A form of the name Bastogne was first mentioned only much later, in 634, when the local lord ceded these territories to the St Maximin's Abbey, near Trier. A century later, the Bastogne area went to the nearby Prüm Abbey. The town of Bastogne and its marketplace are again mentioned in an 887 document. Boulaide
Boulaide (; lb, Bauschelt ; german: Bauschleiden) is a Communes of Luxembourg, commune and small town in north-western Luxembourg. It is part of the canton of Wiltz (canton), Wiltz, which is part of the district of Diekirch (district), Diekirch. As of 2009, it has a total population of 926. The commune is composed of three villages: Boulaide, Baschleiden, and Surré. In 1976 the township has erected a monument in honor of the 35th Infantry Division (United States), 35th Infantry Division, who liberated the town during World War II. Boulaide is also a part of the European Road of Freedom. This project was initiated by the Jewish Painter and Sculptor Otto Freundlich, who was killed in a German concentration camp during World War II. Esch-sur-Sûre ( lb, Esch-Sauer, , german: Esch-Sauer ) is a commune and small town in north-western Luxembourg. It is part of the canton of Wiltz, which is part of the district of Diekirch. At one point it was the second smallest commune by area in Luxembourg (after Remich), until Neunhausen and Heiderscheid were merged into it in 2011. , the town of Esch-sur-Sûre, which lies in the north of the commune, has a population of 314. Esch-sur-Sûre is situated by the river Sauer, just east and downstream of the artificial '' Upper Sauer Lake''.
