Labaik
Labaik (foaled 27 March 2011) was a French thoroughbred racehorse who won the 2017 Supreme Novices' Hurdle, Supreme Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Racing career Labaik was bred in France and began his racing career with trainer John Hammond (racehorse trainer), John Hammond, on the flat. After eight races with a best finish of second at Deauville-La_Touques_Racecourse, Deauville - he switched briefly to trainer Owen Burrows in England and later to Gordon Elliott (racehorse trainer), Gordon Elliott in Ireland. Labaik was successful taking two victories in late 2016 in Ireland, first at Punchestown and later the For Auction Novice Hurdle at Navan. His greatest success however would come at the Cheltenham Festival with jockey Jack Kennedy (jockey), Jack Kennedy. Supreme Novices' Hurdle
The Supreme Novices' Hurdle is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race in Great Britain which is open to horses aged four years or older. It is run on the Old Course at Cheltenham over a distance of about 2 miles and ½ furlong (2 miles and 87 yards, or ), and during its running there are eight hurdles to be jumped. The race is for novice hurdlers, and it is scheduled to take place each year during the Cheltenham Festival in March. It is the first event on the opening day of the Festival, and its start is traditionally greeted by the "Cheltenham Roar", a loud cheer generated by the crowds of onlookers. The For Auction Novice Hurdle is a Grade 3 National Hunt novice hurdle race in Ireland which is open to horses aged four years or older. It is run at Navan over a distance of about 2 miles (3,218 metres). The race is scheduled to take place each year in November. The race was first run in 1997, and was awarded Grade 3 status in 2003. Montmartre (horse)
Montmartre (foaled 18 March 2005) is a French Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a brief racing career which lasted from April to July 2008 he won three times from five starts. After finishing second on his debut he won a minor race before running unplaced in the Prix du Jockey Club. He then won the Prix du Lys and went on to record his biggest success with an impressive victory in the Grand Prix de Paris but never recovered from the race and was retired from the track. As a breeding stallion he had some success as a sire of National Hunt horses. Background Montmartre is a grey horse bred in France by Lagardere Elevage, a company which managed the bloodstock of the late Jean-Luc Lagardère. Gordon Elliott (racehorse Trainer)
Gordon Elliott (born 2 March 1978) is a County Meath-based National Hunt racehorse trainer. After riding as an amateur jockey, he took out a trainer's licence in 2006. He was 29 when his first Grand National entry, the 33 to 1 outsider Silver Birch, won the 2007 race. In 2018 and 2019 he won the Grand National with Tiger Roll, ridden by Davy Russell and owned by Gigginstown House Stud, the first horse since Red Rum to win the race twice. In 2018 he also won the Irish Grand National, with General Principle. On two occasions, in 2017 and 2018, he was the top trainer at the Cheltenham Festival. The Cheltenham Festival is a horse racing-based meeting in the National Hunt racing calendar in the United Kingdom, with race prize money second only to the Grand National. The four-day festival takes place annually in March at Cheltenham Racecourse in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. John Hammond (racehorse Trainer)
John E. Hammond (born June 27, 1960 in Bromley, Kent, England) is retired a Thoroughbred horse trainer in France. Based in Chantilly, Oise throughout his training career, which began in 1987, Hammond trained numerous Group One winners including Montjeu and Suave Dancer, both of whom won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, France's most prestigious horse race. Hammond's horses also won important races in Ireland, Great Britain and the United States. Hammond also trained useful European and latterly American-based sprinter, Nuclear Debate. Hippodrome Deauville-La Touques is a race track for thoroughbred horse racing located in Deauville in the Calvados département, in the Normandy ''région'' of France. Originally called Hippodrome de la Touques, it was named for the Touques River that separates the city of Deauville from Trouville-sur-Mer. Choisir (18 September 1999 – 7 December 2021) was an Australian-bred dual hemisphere-winning Thoroughbred racehorse. He became the first Australian-trained winner of the Group Two King's Stand Stakes. The same year, Choisir also won the Golden Jubilee Stakes and was second in the July Cup. A gray horse (or grey horse) has a coat color characterized by progressive depigmentation of the colored hairs of the coat. Most gray horses have black skin and dark eyes; unlike some equine dilution genes and some other genes that lead to depigmentation, gray does not affect skin or eye color. Gray horses may be born any base color, depending on other color genes present. White hairs begin to appear at or shortly after birth and become progressively more prevalent as the horse ages as white hairs become intermingled with hairs of other colors.
