La Venida Del Rey Olmos
''La venida del Rey Olmos (The Coming of King Elms)'' is a 1975 Mexican film written by Eduardo Luján and directed by Julián Pastor. After returning from the small Mexican town of Dublán, Chihuahua, a 20th-century Son of the Father creates a new Church in the outskirts of Mexico City. Plot The film is set in 1958 in the fictitious north-Mexican town of Dublán in the state of Chihuahua, 1,148 miles (1,848 kilometers) north of Mexico City and 132 miles (213 kilometers) south of El Paso, Texas. Reynaldo Olmos travels there to start a new, Christian life after leaving his wife Chabela and their son in Mexico City. Their son dies of dysentery shortly after his departure and Chabela is forced to work as a prostitute in La Sirena, a brothel. Churubusco Studios
Estudios Churubusco is one of the oldest and largest movie studios in Mexico. It is located in the Churubusco neighborhood of Mexico City. History It was inaugurated in 1945 after a 1943 agreement between RKO and Emilio Azcárraga Vidaurreta (of Televisa). In 1950 it was acquired by the government of Mexico and merged with Estudios y Laboratorios Azteca to form Estudios Churubusco Azteca. Since 1958 it has been controlled by the government of Mexico. Of the four motion picture studios during the golden age of Mexican cinema—the others were Estudios America, Estudios San Angel and Estudios Tepeyac—it and Televisa San Angel (the former Estudios San Angel) are still in operation. Thomas Hastings (composer)
Thomas Hastings (15 October 1784 – 15 May 1872) was an American composer, primarily an author of hymn tunes of which the best known is "Toplady" for the hymn '' Rock of Ages''. He was born to Dr. Seth and Eunice (Parmele) Hastings in Washington, Connecticut. He was a 3rd great-grandson of Thomas Hastings who came from the East Anglia region of England to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1634. Life and career Hastings moved to Clinton, New York, as a youth and began his career as a singing teacher, being largely a self-taught musician. Hastings compiled the hymn book ''Spiritual Songs'' with Lowell Mason in 1831, which included his most well-known hymn "Rock of Ages." He then moved to New York City, where he served as a choir master for 40 years, from 1832 to 1872. Augustus Montague Toplady (4 November 174011 August 1778) was an Anglican cleric and hymn writer. He was a major Calvinist opponent of John Wesley. He is best remembered as the author of the hymn "Rock of Ages". "Rock of Ages" is a popular Christian hymn written by the Reformed Anglican minister Augustus Toplady. History The first four lines for the 1st version of the 1st verse were published in ''The Gospel Magazine'' in October, 1775. The first publication in full was the following spring in the March, 1776 edition of ''The Gospel Magazine,'' with a revised first verse, plus three more verses. A slightly further revised version was published that summer in July 1776 in Toplady's hymnal ''Psalms & Hymns for Public and Private Worship.'' There is a popular story most hymnologists do not believe about the origin of this hymn text.
