"La religieuse" (meaning "The Nun") is a song by Canadian singer Celine Dion, written and produced by French songwriter, Didier Barbelivien. It was released as a single in France in March 1988. Background "La religieuse" was written by French author, lyricist, songwriter and singer, Didier Barbelivien. He also produced the song. The lyrics describe a nun's struggle between her faith and memories of lovers. "La religieuse" incorporates the pipe organs frequently used in Catholic churches. ''The Best of Celine Dion'' is the third French-language compilation album by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released by Carrere Records in selected European countries on 2 May 1988, preceded by the Eurovision-winning song, "Ne partez pas sans moi". The album was also released in few other European countries. In Germany, it was issued with a different cover and titled ''Vivre''. Background On 30 April 1988, Dion won the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin, Ireland. She represented Switzerland with the song "Ne partez pas sans moi". After this success, the single was released in selected European countries on 2 May 1988 and Dion promoted it in mid-May in Switzerland, France, Denmark, Germany, Finland and Italy. The single entered the European charts reaching number one in Belgium, number eleven in Switzerland, number thirty-six in France and number forty-two in the Netherlands. Carrere Records (french: Disques Carrère, link=no, ) was a French record label which specialized in Euro disco and rock music. The record company was sold to Warner Music Group in the early 1990s. Early days Claude Carrere started working with Annie Chancel in 1962 and renamed her Sheila, who remained his sole artist for a while. He set up Carrere Productions and the records were distributed by Philips Records. In the late 1960s, he created Disques Carrere. In 1972, he produced and distributed his own releases. A lot of singers would be signed alongside Sheila, the most important ones being Ringo (Sheila's husband), Dalida and even Claude François. In 1977, the disco group Sheila and B. Michel Drucker, CQ (born 12 September 1942 in Vire) is a popular French journalist and TV host. He has been on screen for so long on various shows and different networks, both public and private, that he once said that some people joked that he was included in the price of their TV sets. Drucker's younger brother, Jacques, is a doctor, and his older brother, Jean, was a television executive. He started a journalistic career in 1965 at the ORTF as sports reporter and commentator. Although he kept doing live coverage of major soccer matches until 1986, he soon turned to hosting variety shows, such as ''Champs-Élysées'' on Antenne 2 in the 1980s, then Stars 90 on TF1 in the 1990s, then finally Vivement dimanche on France 2 every Sunday afternoon since 1998.
