La Donna Del Giorno
''La donna del giorno'' (lit. ''The Woman of the Day'', released in the US as ''The Doll That Took the Town'') is a 1956 Italian drama film starring Virna Lisi, Haya Harareet and Franco Fabrizi. It is directed by Francesco Maselli and tells the story of a struggling model who concocts a story of being raped and beaten by three strangers and soon becomes a media darling. Complications arise when the police eventually arrest three suspects. Francesco Maselli
Francesco Maselli or Citto Maselli (born 9 December 1930, in Rome) is an Italian film director and screenwriter. He has directed 38 films since 1949. Biography Maselli graduated at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, National Film School in 1949 and began his career as assistant director for Luigi Chiarini, Michelangelo Antonioni and Luchino Visconti. Thanks to Visconti, Maselli manages to direct his first feature film, ''Abandoned (1955 film), Abandoned'', showed in competition at the 16th Venice International Film Festival, 16th Venice Film Festival. Serge Reggiani
Serge Reggiani (2 May 1922 – 23 July 2004) was an Italian-French actor and singer. He was born in Reggio Emilia, Italy and moved to France with his parents at the age of eight. After studying acting at the Conservatoire des arts cinématographiques, he was discovered by Jean Cocteau and appeared in the wartime production of ''Les Parents terribles''. He then left Paris to join the French Resistance. His first feature film was ''Les portes de la nuit'' ("Gates of the Night"), released in 1946. He went on to perform in 80 films in total, including ''Casque d'or'', ''Les Misérables'' (1958),'' Tutti a casa'', '' Le Doulos'', ''Il Gattopardo'', '' La terrazza'', '' The Pianist'' (1998). Peter Van Wood (19 September 1927 – 10 March 2010), was a Dutch-Italian guitarist, singer, songwriter, actor, and astrologer.Zampa (1990). p. 1690. Biography Peter Van Wood was born in 1927 as Pieter van Houten in The Hague. He began playing guitar when he was fourteen years old, and studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. At the same time he started listening to great jazz guitar players and began playing in small groups in and around the Netherlands. He was among the first to use the electric guitar with special effects such as echo and reverb. In 1946 he performed at the London Palladium and in 1947 and 1948 he toured all over the world, including concerts at the Olympia theatre in Paris and at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Giuliano Montaldo (born 22 February 1930) is an Italian film director. Biography While he was still a young student, Montaldo was recruited by the director Carlo Lizzani for the role of leading actor in the film ''Achtung! Banditi!'' (1951). Following this experience he began an apprenticeship as an assistant director of Lizzani and Gillo Pontecorvo, as well as appearing in the 1955 ''Gli Sbandati''. Mario Carotenuto (30 June 1916 – 14 April 1995) was an Italian actor of film and theatre. Biography Carotenuto, the son of a silent film actor and younger brother of the actor Memmo Carotenuto, took various humble jobs for many years before starting his own artistic career in 1946, first as a radio actor and then joining small avanspettacolo companies. Mario Serandrei (23 May 1907 – 17 April 1966) was an Italian film editor and screenwriter. Born in Naples, he started in the film industry in 1931 as an assistant director. He edited over two hundred films during his career, and worked steadily until his death in 1966. As an editor, Serandrei's credits included Federico Fellini's ''Il bidone'' (1955), Pietro Francisci's ''Hercules'' (1958) and ''Hercules Unchained'' (1959), Valerio Zurlini's ''Estate violenta'' (1959), ''La ragazza con la valigia'' (1961) and '' Cronaca familiare'' (1962), and the Robert Aldrich/Sergio Leone film of ''Sodom and Gomorrah'' (1963).
