La Ventana Al Mar
La Ventana al Mar on Ashford Avenue in the district of Condado (Santurce), Condado, of San Juan, Puerto Rico, San Juan, Puerto Rico is a large public space built in 2004 fronting the Atlantic Ocean. The park is flanked by two of Condado's landmark hotels: to the west by the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel (1919), designed by Warren and Whitmore, and to the east by the La Concha Hotel (1957), designed by Toro Ferrer. The 1.8 hectare public space was developed by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico's Tourism Company, and has been credited as one of the principal motors steering the district's urban revitalisation. Condado (Santurce)
Condado is an oceanfront, tree-lined, pedestrian-oriented upper middle to upper class community in Santurce. It is one of the forty subbarrios of Santurce in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Setting Condado is an upscale neighborhood located on the beach. It is located east of the historic colonial barrio of Old San Juan. It is one of 40 subbarrios of Santurce. The land area measures with a resident population of 6,170 according to the 2000 United States Census. The eastern border is marked by De Diego Avenue and its straight extension towards the Atlantic coast. Condado Vanderbilt Hotel
The Condado Vanderbilt Hotel is a historic luxury hotel built in 1919 and located on Ashford Avenue in the district of Condado in San Juan, capital city of the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. The hotel was designed by the architectural firm Warren and Wetmore, who also designed New York's Grand Central Terminal. Toro Ferrer
Toro y Ferrer was an architectural firm and one of the principal exponents of Puerto Rico's tropical modernism. Founded in 1945 by Osvaldo Toro FAIA (1914–1995), Miguel Ferrer FAIA (1914–2005) and Luis Torregrosa Casellas, the firm designed some of Puerto Rico's most significant modern landmarks. The firm is known for its synthesis of the principles of the Modern Movement adapted to the tropical conditions of the Island. Major works include the Caribe Hilton Hotel (1945), the Aeropuerto Internacional de Isla Verde (1955), the Corte Suprema (Puerto Rico Supreme Court) (1955), the House of Representatives' Annex Buildings (1955) and the Hotel La Concha (1958). Andrés Mignucci
Andrés Mignucci Giannoni FAIA (December 17, 1957 – November 21, 2022) was a Puerto Rican architect and urbanist of Corsican ancestry. His work received recognition for its integration of the disciplines of architecture, urban design and landscape architecture in the creation of public spaces with a sense of place, human scale, and environmental responsibility. In 2005 Andrés Mignucci was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects. In 2012, he was awarded the Henry Klumb Award by the Puerto Rico College of Architects. In 2019, Mignucci received the Distinguished Professor Award by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, and was named Arts and Literary Arts Scholar in Residence at the Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Center in Bellagio, Italy. Ángel Botello (June 20, 1913 – November 11, 1986), full name Ángel Botello y Barros, was a Spanish- Puerto Rican painter, sculptor and graphic artist. He was dubbed "The Caribbean Gauguin" for his use of bold colors and depictions of island life. Botello is considered one of the greatest Latin American post-modern artists and recognition and demand for his artwork continues to grow today, fetching unprecedented auction prices.
