Joseph Kessel
Joseph Kessel (10 February 1898 – 23 July 1979), also known as "Jef", was a French journalist and novelist. He was a member of the Académie française and Grand Officer of the Legion of Honour. Biography Kessel was born to a Argentine Jews, Jewish family in Villa Clara, Entre Ríos, Villa Clara, Entre Ríos Province, Entre Ríos, Argentina, because of the constant journeys of his father, a Lithuanian Jews, Litvak physician. From 1905 to 1908, Joseph Kessel lived the first years of his childhood in Orenburg, Russia, before the family moved to France in 1908. He studied in ''lycée Masséna'', Nice and lycée Louis-le-Grand, Paris and took part in the First World War as an aviator. He was also an aviator during the Second World War, in the Free French (No. 342 Squadron RAF, 342 Squadron RAF) with RAF Bomber Command, with Romain Gary, who was also a talented French novelist. ''Fear'' (german: Angst) is a 1925 novella by the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig. It was adapted into a 1928 silent film, '' Angst'', directed by Hans Steinhoff, a 1936 film, '' La Peur'', directed by Victor Tourjansky, and a 1954 film, '' Fear'', directed by Roberto Rossellini. Plot The protagonist, Irene Wagner, is a married, young bourgeois who has a secret affair with a pianist. Due to blackmails from the pianist's girlfriend who is aware of the affair, Irene is seized with fear of losing her '' dolce vita''. ''Fear'' ( it, La Paura or german: Angst) is a 1954 German-Italian drama film directed by Roberto Rossellini and starring his wife Ingrid Bergman. It is loosely based on the Stefan Zweig novella '' Fear''. Rossellini created it because he wanted to explore the reconstruction of Germany from both a material and moral standpoint ten years after making his previous German film '' Germany, Year Zero''.
