La Petite Vie
''La petite vie'' was first a stage sketch of the comedy duo Ding et Dong, formed by Claude Meunier and Serge Thériault, and later a hit Quebec television sitcom aired by Radio-Canada from 1993 to 1999. In total, 59 episodes were created plus 3 specials, two for Christmas and one for New Year's 2000. Widely considered a classic of the Quebec television, it was the first Canadian TV show (of either English or French language) to ever gather more than 4 million viewers, a performance it achieved twice in 1995 (since surpassed by ''Bye Bye 2018'' with 4.41 million). Synopsis The stories of ''La petite vie'', sketch and television show, revolve around the strange couple simply known as ''Pôpa'' and ''Môman'' (Quebec Joual for ''pa'' and ''ma''). Rémy Girard (born August 10, 1950) is a Canadian actor and former television host from Montreal, Quebec. Acting career Girard played the role of Rémy, the main character, who is dying of terminal cancer, in the Canadian film ''The Barbarian Invasions'' (''Les Invasions barbares'') by director Denys Arcand. This film was awarded the 2003 Academy Award for best foreign picture. Arcand's earlier film ''The Decline of the American Empire (Le Déclin de l'empire américain)'' revolved around the same characters who appear 17 years later in ''Les Invasions barbares''. Michel Côté (born June 25, 1950) is a Canadian actor. He is best known for his performances in the films ''Cruising Bar'', '' Life After Love (La vie après l'amour)'' and ''C.R.A.Z.Y.'', the theatrical show ''Broue'' and the television series ''Omertà''. Career Côté taught introductory acting and improvisation at the Option Theatre in Ste. Therese until 1977. He subsequently cofounded a small theatre, Vogagements. In 1979 Côté began performing in the play ''Broue'' at the theatre; the play was intended to have a one-month run, but ended up being staged in many cities across Canada, and Cote continued to perform in all of the more than 2,000 presentations as late as 2008.
