José Rómulo Sosa Ortiz (17 February 1948 – 28 September 2019), known professionally as José José, was a Mexican singer and actor. Born into a family of musicians, José began his musical career in his early teens playing guitar and singing in serenade. Rubén Fuentes (15 February 1926 – 5 February 2022) was a Mexican classical violinist and composer, who was best known for his contributions to mariachi music. Biography In 1944, Fuentes joined Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán as a violinist and later as a music arranger. In 1955 he stopped performing in the group, but he has maintained his position as producer, musical arranger and musical director. As such, he had a profound influence on Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and mariachi music in general. ''El Triste'' (The sad one) is the title of the second studio album released by Mexican singer José José in 1970. Like its predecessor, this album projected him to internationalization, due to his performance in the "II Festival de la Canción Latina" ("Latin Song Festival II", predecessor of the OTI Festival) held on March 25, 1970, representing Mexico with the songs "El Triste" by Roberto Cantoral and "Dos" by Welo Rivas, obtaining the third place (according to the jury), in front of an audience that filled the Teatro Ferrocarrilero of Mexico City, who admired his extraordinary performance (claiming he deserved first place). Armando Manzanero Canché (7 December 1935 – 28 December 2020) was a Mexican Maya peoples, Mayan musician, singer, composer, actor and music producer, widely considered the premier Mexican romantic composer of the postwar era and one of the most successful composers of Latin America. He received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in the United States in 2014. He was the president of the Mexican Society of Authors and Composers (Sociedad de Autores y Compositores de México).
