La Follette High School
Robert M. La Follette High School is a public school located in Madison, Wisconsin, serving the city's far east side with its attendance boundaries including parts of the City of Madison, City of Fitchburg, Town of Blooming Grove, and Town of Burke, teaching students in grades 9-12. Founded in the fall of 1963, it is a part of the Madison Metropolitan School District, and is named after former lawmaker and 1924 presidential candidate Robert M. Madison is the county seat of Dane County and the capital city of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Charles Chvala
Charles Joseph "Chuck" Chvala (born December 5, 1954) is an American real estate dealer, lawyer, and former politician. He served 20 years in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing Dane County, and was the Democratic leader from 1995 through 2002. His political career was ended by a 2002 scandal which found he and other lawmakers had illegally utilized state employees for campaign work. Early life Born in Merrill, Wisconsin, Chvala's family moved to Madison where he attended La Follette High School, and served as a student member of the Madison School Board. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1978 and the same year earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School. Craig Smith (born September 5, 1989) is an American ice hockey player, currently playing for the Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Nashville Predators in the fourth round, 98th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Smith played major junior hockey in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Waterloo Black Hawks. He was named to the USHL First All-Star Team for the 2008–09 season. Jeff Nygaard
Jeff Wayne Nygaard (born August 3, 1972, in Madison, Wisconsin) is an American volleyball and beach volleyball player who participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics with partner Dain Blanton in Athens, Greece. In 1996 and 2000 he was a member of the Men's Olympic National Indoor Team. He is a middle blocker. He attended La Follette High School in Madison, Wisconsin, where he played volleyball under coach Randy Ramig. Nicknamed "Little Ny" because his older, and then larger, brother Brad also played on the volleyball team, Nygaard improved quickly to become a key and then a star player. Nicole Newman (born October 1996) is an American, former collegiate All-American, right-handed batting professional softball pitcher, originally from Madison, Wisconsin. She attended La Follette High School in Madison. She later attended Drake University, and suited up for Drake Bulldogs softball team, where she owns numerous records. She is also the Missouri Valley Conference career leader in no hitters, perfect games, strikeouts and strikeout ratio; the latter also ranking top-10 in all the NCAA Division I. In her senior year, Newman threw five perfect games during the 2019 NCAA Division I softball season to lead Drake softball to a Missouri Valley Conference softball title and a berth in the 2019 NCAA Division I softball tournament. Peter Alan Mueller (born July 27, 1954 in Madison, Wisconsin) is an American former speed skater and currently a speed skating coach. Early life Mueller attended La Follette High School. Skating career Peter Mueller was the first Olympic Champion on the 1,000 m, when this distance was introduced at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck. More international successes followed at the World Sprint Championships, where he won bronze in 1976 and silver in 1977.
