"Chica de Ayer" (Eng.: ''Yesterday Girl'') is a pop song written by Antonio Vega and recorded by Spanish rock band Nacha Pop in 1980, which was included on their album ''Nacha Pop''. Popular culture The title of the song was used as the name of the Spanish television series ''La Chica de Ayer (TV series), La Chica de Ayer'' which was based on the British detective show ''Life on Mars (UK TV series), Life on Mars'', which was similarly named after a David Bowie song. The same title is also used as the name of a contemporary poetry book, written by Solange De-Ré (Imaginante Editorial). Enrique Iglesias version Spanish singer-songwriter Enrique Iglesias recorded a version of "La Chica de Ayer" for his album ''Quizás (album), Quizás'' in 2002. The song was released as promotional single from his album Quizas in Spain and topped the airplay charts in that country. Nacha Pop
Nacha Pop was a Spanish pop/rock group active from 1978 to 1988. The band was formed by Antonio Vega (singer), Antonio Vega and Nacho García Vega (guitars and vocals), Carlos Brooking (bass) and Ñete (drums). They signed with Spanish EMI subsidiary Hispavox in 1980, and their debut album was produced by Teddy Bautista. Several albums followed, including 1987's ''El Momento'', which was produced by Carlos Narea. Their final concerts took place on October 19 and 20, 1988, after which the group disbanded. In 1987, Nacha Pop released what would be their most successful album at the time, ''El Momento (Nacha Pop album), El Momento''. It contained several hit singles, that became a huge success in Spain, Argentina and Mexico. Emphasizing the New Wave track, Persiguiendo Sombras and the memorable hit Lucha De Gigantes climbed to the top of the charts in Spain and Mexico during 1987 and 1988. Antonio Vega (singer)
Antonio Vega Tallés (a.k.a. Antonio Vega) (16 December 1957 – 12 May 2009) was a Spanish pop singer-songwriter. Biography He was born in Madrid. In a psychologist test he got 168 of intelligence quotient. He studied at the Liceo Francés de Madrid, where he acted for the first time at aged 14. Antonio Vega has been considered one of the fundamental composers of Spanish pop since the beginning of democracy. The intimacy of his songs and his sensitivity earned him admiration both from public and critics. He was addicted to drugs since the 80s, which over time ceased to be a secret from the public. On 20 April 2009 Antonio Vega was admitted to the Hospital Puerta de Hierro in Madrid with severe pneumonia that forced him to suspend his tour. 51-year old died on 12 May 2009, as a result of lung cancer that had been diagnosed 10 months earlier. ''Quizás'' (English: ''Maybe'') is the sixth studio album and fourth full-Spanish-language album by Spanish singer-songwriter Enrique Iglesias. The album was released by Universal Music Latino on 17 September 2002. ''Quizás'' was Iglesias first album in Spanish in four years, his last being '' Cosas del Amor'' in 1998.
