LMS Jubilee Class 5690 Leander
London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Jubilee Class No. 5690 (BR No. 45690) ''Leander'' is a preserved British steam locomotive. Operational history 5690 was built at Crewe in March 1936 and named ''Leander'' after HMS ''Leander'', which in turn was named after the Greek hero Leander. From March 1936 it was based at Crewe North shed where it remained until 1947 when it was transferred to the former LMS engine shed at Bristol (Barrow Road). After nationalisation in 1948, it was renumbered 45690 by British Railways. After being withdrawn in 1964, ''Leander'' was sold to Woodham Brothers scrapyard in Barry, South Wales. Preservation Rescued by Brian Oliver in May 1972, it was restored by the Leander Locomotive Society at Derby and later kept at the Dinting Railway Museum, Glossop. After later purchase by and running on the Severn Valley Railway, ''Leander'' was sold to Dr Peter Beet, and restored to running condition on the East Lancashire Railway in LMS Crimson ...

Barrow Hill Engine Shed
Barrow Hill Roundhouse, until 1948 known as Staveley Engine Shed, is a former Midland Railway roundhouse in Barrow Hill, near Staveley and Chesterfield, Derbyshire (), now serving as a railway heritage centre. History Staveley Roundhouse was built to a standard Midland Railway square shed design in 1870 with a central turntable under cover. After 1948 it became known as Barrow Hill so as not to confuse it with the ex-Great Central shed nearby. It was operational from 1870 until 9 February 1991. The last shed foreman was Pete Hodges and the last person to sign on at Barrow Hill was Joe Denston, for the up sidings preparer. Woodham Brothers Ltd is a trading business, based mainly around activities and premises located within Barry Docks, in Barry, Wales, Barry, South Wales. It is noted globally for its 1960s activity as a scrapyard (hence its colloquial name of Barry Scrapyard), where 297 withdrawn British Railways steam locomotives were sent, from which 213 were rescued for the developing railway preservation movement. The Great Central Railway (GCR) is a heritage railway in Leicestershire, named after the company that originally built this stretch of railway. Carnforth MPD (Motive Power Depot) is a former London Midland and Scottish Railway railway depot located in the town of Carnforth, Lancashire, England. Completed in 1944 on the site of the former Furness Railway depot, its late construction in the steam locomotive age resulted in its long-term use and conservation by British Railways. Targeted as part of a preservation scheme, when this failed it was developed as major visitor attraction Steamtown Carnforth. Peter Beet
Peter Leslie Beet (17 February 1937 – 28 October 2005) was an English general practitioner notable for his pioneering work in the preservation of steam locomotives. Early years and education Raised in Kendal on the edge of the Lake District, close to the London, Midland and Scottish Railway's West Coast Main Line, he was educated in Harrogate, close to the London and North Eastern Railway's East Coast Main Line. He attended medical school in Leeds, where on the weekends he would visit Tebay and its engine shed, with staff letting him clean and prepare locomotives. After graduation he became a general practitioner in Morecambe, Lancashire, in 1964. Glossop is a market town in the Borough of High Peak, Derbyshire, England. It is located east of Manchester, north-west of Sheffield and north of the county town, Matlock.
