LGBTory
LGBTory is a Canadian LGBT conservatism, LGBT conservative organization. The group was established in 2015, as an advocacy group for LGBT supporters of the Conservative Party of Canada and provincial conservative parties. While officially open to all LGBT supporters of conservative parties across Canada, the group was founded in Toronto, Ontario by people associated with the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario who wanted to be represented in the Toronto Pride Parade. The name was inspired by the similar British conservative group LGBTory, now called LGBT+ Conservatives, which gave permission to use the name. LGBT+ Conservatives
LGBT+ Conservatives is an organisation for LGBT conservatism in the United Kingdom. It is affiliated and is the official LGBT wing of the Conservative Party (UK), Conservative Party. The current advocacy group can trace its roots back to the Tory Campaign for Homosexual Equality, Conservative Group for Homosexual Equality which was later renamed the ''Tory Campaign for Homosexual Equality''. The group was eventually disbanded and the new ''LGBTory'' group was formed, changing its name in 2016 to LGBT+ Conservatives. The group campaigns for LGBT rights alongside the main political beliefs and policies of the Conservative Party, which it promotes within the Party, LGBT community, and wider public. LGBT Conservatism
LGBT conservatism refers to LGBT ( lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) individuals with conservative political views. It is an umbrella term used for what is bifurcated into two specific sub-categories, each with its own term and meaning. The first sub-categorical term, Pre-Stonewall LGBT Conservatives, refers to LGBT individuals embracing and promoting (even in the post-Stonewall era) the ideology of a traditional and often anti-LGBT (or at least non-"LGBT-friendly") conservatism in either a general or specifically-LGBT social context or environment. The second sub-categorical term, Post-Stonewall LGBT Conservatives, refers to self-affirming LGBT persons with fiscally, culturally, and politically conservative views. BJ Dichter
Benjamin Joseph Dichter (born 1975 or 1976) was a leader in the 2022 Canadian convoy protest. He is also a gemologist, former print shop operator, A-Z owner-operator, and author, from Toronto, Canada. He is the founder of the LGBTQ conservative group LGBTory. Dichter was the candidate for Toronto Centre-Rosedale in the 2014 Toronto municipal election, and the 2015 Conservative candidate for Toronto-Danforth. He lost in both elections. He has been noted for criticisms of partisan divisiveness, and of political tolerance toward extremism. Patrick Brown (Canadian Politician)
Patrick Walter Brown (born May 26, 1978) is a Canadian politician who has served as the 51st and current mayor of Brampton since 2018. Entering politics when he won a seat on the Barrie City Council in 2000, Brown later joined the Conservative Party and became a member of Parliament (MP) in 2006. He represented Barrie in the House of Commons until 2015, when he was elected as leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative (PC) Party and resigned his seat in Parliament. Brown was subsequently elected to represent Simcoe North in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and became the leader of the Opposition. Vancouver Pride Festival
The Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival is an annual gay pride, LGBT Pride event, held each year in Vancouver, British Columbia, to celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and their allies. It is run by the Vancouver Pride Society (VPS), a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organization that seeks to "produce inclusive, celebratory events, and advocacy for LGBTQAI2S+". Transgender
A transgender (often abbreviated as trans) person is someone whose gender identity or gender expression does not correspond with their sex assigned at birth. Many transgender people experience dysphoria, which they seek to alleviate through transitioning, often adopting a different name and set of pronouns in the process. Additionally, they may undergo sex reassignment therapies such as hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgery to more closely align their primary and secondary sex characteristics with their gender identity.
