Uelzen (district)
Uelzen () is a district (''Landkreis'') in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the south and clockwise) the districts of Gifhorn, Celle, Heidekreis, Lüneburg and Lüchow-Dannenberg, and by the state of Saxony-Anhalt (district of Altmarkkreis Salzwedel). The county capital is the town of Uelzen. History From the Middle Ages on the region was part of the duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg and its successor states. Geography The district comprises the eastern part of the Lüneburg Heath (''Lüneburger Heide''). The Ilmenau river has its source in the district. From here it runs northwards to the town of Lüneburg. The countryside is flat and sparsely populated. Völzberger Köpfchen
Völzberger Köpfchen is a hill in the Vogelsberg, Vogelsberg mountain range, located in Hesse, Germany. It rises 570.8 m making it the highest point in the Main-Kinzig-Kreis, Main-Kinzig district. Flora Vogelsberg mountain range is the largest contiguous basalt massif in Central Europe. Flora in the higher areas are Beech, beech forests, spruce forests, hardwood and broken forests. There is also a raised bog. Upstream from the forest are flowering mountain meadows and sometimes bristle grass. The Vogelsberg mountain range is the starting point for many small rivers and springs. Tourism Climb Völzberger Köpfchen on the Vogelsberg volcano ring hiking trail, circling Europe's largest extinct volcanic area. The trail has an approximate length of 115 km and can be hiked in six stages, climbing Völzberger Köpfchen in stage four. References

Fulda (river)
The Fulda () is a river of Hesse and Lower Saxony, Germany. It is one of two headstreams of the Weser (the other one being the Werra). The Fulda is long. The river arises at Wasserkuppe in the Rhön mountains in Hesse. From there it runs northeast, flanked by the Knüll mountains in the west and the Seulingswald in the east. Near Bebra it changes direction to the northwest. After joining the Eder river it flows straight north until Kassel, then changes direction to the northeast, with the Kaufungen Forest east and the beginning of the Reinhardswald forest northwest. The north end of the river meets the Werra in Hannoversch Münden, Lower Saxony, where the Fulda and the Werra join to form the Weser river.
