Lúcio Rodrigues
Lucio Rodrigues (born October 26, 1980), aka "Lagarto" (lizard in Portuguese), is a 3rd degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is also a fighter (MMA and BJJ) and a teacher. He currently lives and coach in London, UK. Lucio was nicknamed "Lagarto" by Marcio Feitosa, as a joke due to Lucio's resemblance to the reptile. People now use it as a comparison with his abilities on the mat and his regeneration capacities after his cancer. Early life Rodrigues was born in Rio de Janeiro. His life as Martial Artist started very early, at the age of 5, where he started training with Anselmo Rodrigues(his father). He then joined the Carlos Augusto's ( 4th degree black belt under Reyson Gracie) academy at the age of 13 where he focused completely on training hard. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ; pt, jiu-jitsu brasileiro ) is a self-defence martial art and combat sport based on grappling, ground fighting (ne-waza) and submission holds. BJJ focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling one's opponent, gaining a dominant position, and using a number of techniques to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Ranking System
The Brazilian jiu-jitsu ranking system signifies a practitioner's increasing level of technical knowledge and practical skill within the art. Colored belts worn as part of the uniform are awarded to the practitioner. The ranking system shares its origins with the judo belt-rank system, but the Brazilian system incorporates some minor differences from Judo such as a division between youths and adults and the issuance of stripes and degrees. Marcio Feitosa
Marcio Feitosa (May 16, 1976) is a Brazilian 6th degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He has learned directly from Carlos Gracie Jr., founder of the Gracie Barra Academy in Rio de Janeiro. He has risen to the podium eight times from 1997 to 2006 at several world championships. In 2013, Feitosa was ranked one of the Top 10 fighters of all time by the BJJ Heroes website. Throughout his career he has collected many titles such as the IBJJF World Championship, the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship, the Brazilian Nationals and the Pan-Americans. He is one of the strongest competitors of his generation having won against fighters such as Urijah Faber, Léo Vieira, Vítor Ribeiro, Royler Gracie and Leonardo Santos. The Gracie Family () are a prominent martial arts family originally from Belém, state of Pará, Brazil whose ancestors came from Paisley, Scotland. Gracie Barra Academy
Gracie Barra is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu association with over 800 schools on six continents. The organization was founded by Carlos Gracie, Jr. History Carlos Gracie Jr., who was born in 1956, grew up heavily influenced by his family, especially his father Carlos Gracie Sr. and his brother Rolls Gracie. Carlos was working as Rolls' assistant instructor when Rolls died in a hang-gliding accident in 1982; Carlos was asked to assume the head instructor role. Hodgkin's Lymphoma
Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is a type of lymphoma, in which cancer originates from a specific type of white blood cell called lymphocytes, where multinucleated Reed–Sternberg cells (RS cells) are present in the patient's lymph nodes. The condition was named after the English physician Thomas Hodgkin, who first described it in 1832. Symptoms may include fever, night sweats, and weight loss. Often, nonpainful enlarged lymph nodes occur in the neck, under the arm, or in the groin. Those affected may feel tired or be itchy.
