Loewe Technology GmbH, doing business as Loewe (), is a German company that develops, designs, manufactures, and sells consumer electronics and electromechanical products and systems. The company was founded in Berlin, in 1923, by brothers Siegmund and David L. Loewe. Since 1948, the company has based its headquarters and production facilities in the Bavarian town of Kronach, Upper Franconia. History The company was started in 1923 in Berlin, when Siegmund Loewe and his brother David Ludwig Loewe established a radio manufacturing company named Radiofrequenz GmbH. Siegmund Loewe belonged to a circle which promoted public broadcasting in Germany and did his best to initiate what later became known as the radio boom. His work with the young physicist Manfred von Ardenne in 1926 led to the development of the Loewe 3NF, an early attempt to combine several functions into one electronic device, similar to the modern integrated circuit. The '' VII '' (Lion), initially known as project VK 70.01, was a series of designs for a super-heavy tank developed by Krupp from 1941 to 1942. The project would be cancelled in favour of even heavier tanks such as the Maus. The project was only officially known as VK 70.01 or , with the names '' VII'' and VK 72.01 appearing inconsistently in various documents but never officially recognised. HNoMS Gyller (1938)
HNoMS ''Gyller'' was a commissioned into the Royal Norwegian Navy in 1938. Along with the other ''Sleipner''-class vessels in commission at that time, she took part in protecting Norwegian neutrality during the Second World War. After initially serving in the far north during the Finno-Soviet Winter War, she was redeployed to Southern Norway, escorting ships through Norwegian territorial waters. When the Germans invaded Norway on 9 April 1940, she was docked at Kristiansand. After taking part in the defence of the port city, she was captured intact by the invading Germans. Renamed ''Löwe'', she sailed with Nazi Germany's ''Kriegsmarine'' for the duration of the war. During her time in German service, she escorted the evacuation ship when the latter was torpedoed and sunk by a Soviet submarine with heavy loss of life. Der Löwe
Der Löwe (1944–1973) was a successful stallion who had a great impact on the breeding of Warmbloods and is thought by some to be one of the most important post-war stallions to stand at stud. Early life Der Löwe, also spelled Der Loewe, was foaled at Röttgen Stud in 1944. He was sired by Wahnfried, and out of Lehnsherrin. He stood at 158 cm tall, and was a dark brown. Performance and breeding career Der Löwe was used as a racehorse for the first years of his life, and was a successful stakes winner, most notably winning the Grosser Preis von Baden in 1948. He was then sent to the Hanoverian stud at Grossenworden at the age of 7, to begin his breeding career. Der Löwe stood at Grossenworden from 1951 to 1961, before standing at Luhmühlen from 1962 to 1968, Otterstedt from 1969 to 1971, Sottrum in 1972, and Bargstedt in 1973.
