Lynx FC is a football club from the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. They play in the Gibraltar Football League. The club colours are yellow and black. History The club was formed in 2007 and has been managed by Albert Parody for the majority of its history, making him the country's longest serving manager. After winning the Gibraltar Second Division in 2012, thus earning promotion to the Gibraltar Premier Division The Gibraltar Premier Division was a football league established by the Gibraltar Football Association (GFA) in 1905, and the top tier of football in Gibraltar. It originally contained eight member clubs, but it has grown over the years. In 19 ..., the club have established themselves as a top flight team. Victoria Stadium (Gibraltar)
Victoria Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Gibraltar. It is currently used mostly for football matches, but also hosts the annual Gibraltar Music Festival. It is located close to Gibraltar Airport just off Winston Churchill Avenue. It was named after the wife of Gibraltarian philanthropist John Mackintosh. Despite initial plans to replace the stadium in the 2010s, the Gibraltar Football Association purchased the stadium from the Government of Gibraltar in April 2017 in order to improve and renovate it. The redevelopment of the stadium is due to start in late 2022, with the national team announcing they will play UEFA and FIFA games in Faro, Portugal. 2020 Rock Cup
The 2020 Gibtelecom Rock Cup was a single-leg knockout tournament contested by clubs from Gibraltar. There were thirteen clubs participating in the cup this season. The winner of the competition would have qualified to compete in the 2020–21 Europa League. Europa were the defending champions after defeating Gibraltar United by a score of 3–0 in the previous season's final. On 1 May 2020, the Gibraltar Football Association announced that the domestic football season had been terminated. 2019–20 Gibraltar National League
The 2019–20 Gibraltar National League season is the first season of the new Gibraltar National League in Gibraltar, and the 121st season of football on the territory overall. The league was announced in June 2018 when the Gibraltar Football Association decided to merge the Gibraltar Premier Division and Gibraltar Second Division at the conclusion of the 2018–19 season. On 1 August 2019, it was confirmed that the league would be contested by 16 teams. Eleven days later, the GFA revealed that two teams had withdrawn and the league would be contested by 14 teams. That number was reduced to 13 the following day when Leo also withdrew from the league. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the season was suspended in March 2020. The 2019 Gibtelecom Rock Cup was a single-leg knockout tournament contested by clubs from Gibraltar. There were seventeen clubs participating in the cup this season. The final was played on 26 May 2019. The winner of the competition qualified to compete in the 2019–20 Europa League. Europa were the defending champions after defeating Mons Calpe by a score of 2–1 in the previous season's final. First round The draw for the first round was held on 29 November 2018. The first round will be contested between second division teams, with premier division teams joining in the second round. The 2015–16 Gibraltar Premier Division (known as the Argus Insurance Premier Division for sponsorship reasons) was the 117th season of the national amateur and semi-professional football league in Gibraltar since its establishment - the highest level of football in Gibraltar. The league was contested by ten clubs, expanded from eight clubs in the last two seasons, including all clubs from last season and two promoted clubs from 2014–15 Gibraltar Second Division. The winner of the Gibraltar Premier Division, Lincoln Red Imps was allocated a spot in Champions League qualification, and as they won the Rock Cup a spot in the Europa League was given to the runners-up Europa FC.
