The Luxembourg men's national basketball team ( lb, Lëtzebuergesch Basketballnationalequipe, french: Équipe du Luxembourg de basketball, ger, Luxemburgische Basketballnationalmannschaft) represents Luxembourg in international basketball tournaments. They are controlled by the Luxembourg Basketball Federation. Luxembourg has competed at the EuroBasket three times, in 1946, 1951, and 1955. Their best result was an eighth place finish at their first appearance at the competition in 1946. However, the national team has yet to qualify to compete at the FIBA World Cup. The Luxembourg Basketball Federation ( lb, Lëtzebuerger basketballfederatioun, french: Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Basketball, ger, Luxemburger Basketballföderation) also known as FLBB, is the governing body of basketball in Luxembourg. It was founded in 1934, and became members of FIBA in 1946. The Luxembourg Basketball Federation operates the Luxembourg men's national basketball team, Luxembourg men's national team and Luxembourg women's national basketball team, Luxembourg women's national team. The 2015 Games of the Small States of Europe, also known as the XVI Games of the Small States of Europe, were held in Iceland. The slogan was "Natural Power". The 1951 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1951, was the seventh FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship, held by FIBA. Eighteen national teams affiliated with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) entered the competition, a record number and more than twice the number that had competed two years earlier. The competition was hosted by France, who had taken second place at EuroBasket 1949, behind 1949 hosts Egypt.
