Lumpkin was a community in Butte County, California, Butte County, California. It was located north-northwest of Clipper Mills, California, Clipper Mills on the Feather River Railway, at an elevation of 3586 feet (1093 m). Kregg Lumpkin (born May 15, 1984) is a former American football running back. He was signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2008. Tony Lumpkin is a fictional character who first appeared in Oliver Goldsmith's play, ''She Stoops to Conquer''. He may have been based on one of Goldsmith's friends. The story goes that Oliver Goldsmith wrote the play while staying with the Lumpkin family at Park House in Leverington, near Wisbech and that he lampooned his friend, Nicholas Lumpkin, by turning him into his famous creation, Tony Lumpkin. Tony Lumpkin is the son of Mrs Hardcastle and stepson to Mr Hardcastle. It is as a result of his practical joking that the comic aspects of the play are set up. Wilson Lumpkin (January 14, 1783 – December 28, 1870) was an American planter, attorney, and politician. He served two terms as the governor of Georgia, from 1831 to 1835, in the period of Indian Removal of the Creek and Cherokee peoples to Indian Territory to make way for development of their lands by European Americans. Theodore Lumpkin Jr (December 30, 1919 – December 26, 2020) was an American military officer. Early life and education Lumpkin was born in Los Angeles and was educated at Jefferson High School. He attended Los Angeles City College from 1938 to 1940, graduating with an associate degree in mathematics and continued his studies at University of California Los Angeles. The Second World War had commenced, but the USA was formally neutral until the end of 1941. Military career Lumpkin was drafted in 1942. After basic training, he completed officer cadet school. He was made a second lieutenant and assigned to the 100th Fighter Squadron based at Tuskegee, Alabama. At the time, the US military was segregated by race and this was an all black unit. Katharine DuPre Lumpkin (December 22, 1897 – May 5, 1988) was an American writer and sociologist from Macon, Georgia. She is a member of both the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame and the Georgia Women of Achievement. Background Katharine DuPre Lumpkin was born on December 22, 1897, in Macon, Georgia, to Annette Caroline Morris and William Wallace Lumpkin. Her father was a veteran of the Civil War. There were seven siblings, who by birth order were: Elizabeth (teacher), Hope (clergyman), Alva (politician), Morris (lawyer), Grace (writer), and Katharine (academic).
