Luis Ángel Arango Library
Luis Ángel Arango Library (Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango or BLAA) is a public library located in Bogotá, Colombia. It is one of the largest and most important libraries in the world. It was founded in 1958 as a small library with a few books on economics, currently its collection has about 2'000.000 works. Today the library has been expanded and occupies two entire city blocks spanning about 45,000m² (nearly 54,000 sq. yards). Its collection has grown to become the country's premier library and has come to be considered the most important public library in Latin America, and one of the most visited in the world. It has over 1.1 million books and seating for 1900 readers; it received 6.7 million visitors in 2008. The library is named after the lawyer and businessman Luis Angel Arango, the general director (Governor) of the "Banco de la Republica" in Colombia from 1947 to 1957, and a champion of culture and literature for all. Blaa
A ''blaa'' , or Waterford Blaa, is a doughy, white bread bun (roll) speciality, particularly associated with Waterford, Ireland. It is currently made in Waterford and South Co. Kilkenny. Blaas are sold in two varieties: "soft" and "crusty". Soft blaas are slightly sweet, malt flavour, light but firm in texture and melt in the mouth. Crusty blaas are crunchy at first bite, then chewy with a subtle malt taste and a pleasing bitter aftertaste from the well cooked, dark crust. Eaten mainly at breakfast with butter, they are also eaten at other times of the day with a wide variety of fillings (including a type of luncheon meat often referred to as "red lead"). The ''breakfast blaa'' (egg, bacon rasher and sausage) is more common than the ''breakfast roll'' in Waterford. Avenida Jiménez (TransMilenio)
Avenida Jiménez is a transfer station, part of the TransMilenio mass-transit system of Bogotá, Colombia. Location The station is located in the heart of downtown Bogotá, specifically at the intersection of Avenida Jiménez with Avenida Caracas. History The station entered operation on December 17, 2000 as part of the original Transmilenio system, only to be closed a year later for construction of the Eje Ambiental, which was opened in 2002. After the opening of the Jiménez-Calle 13 trunk, the station was converted from a simple station into an interchange between the aforementioned trunk and Avenida Caracas with five platforms. The station serves an average of 500,000 passengers per day.
