Luge At The 2014 Winter Olympics – Women's Singles
The women's luge at the 2014 Winter Olympics was held on 10–11 February 2014 at the Sliding Center Sanki in Rzhanaya Polyana, Russia. Qualifying athletes The top 28, with each nation allowed a maximum of 3, after five of five races. Czech Republic and South Korea receive the team relay allocations to complete a team. Sliding Center Sanki
The Sliding Center Sanki (Санки) (a.k.a. the Sanki Sliding Center) is a bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track located in Rzhanaya Polyana, Russia, 60 km (37 mi) northeast of Sochi. Located in the Western Caucasus. The venue hosted the bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton events for the 2014 Winter Olympics. History In 2006, it was announced that Russia would construct two new bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton tracks. Raluca Nicoleta Strămăturaru (born 22 November 1985 in Sinaia) is a Romanian luger who has competed since 1996. Her younger sister Violeta Strămăturaru is also a luger. Strămăturaru's best Luge World Cup season finish was 23rd in women's singles in 2007–08. Her best finish at the FIL World Luge Championships was 22nd in women's singles at Oberhof in 2008.
