Ludwig Von Herterich
Ludwig von Herterich (13 October 1856, Ansbach - 25 December 1932, Etzenhausen, today in Dachau) was a German painter and art teacher. He is best known as a painter of portraits and history paintings and is a representative of the Munich School. Biography He was the son of a sculptor and art restorer, Franz Herterich, and the younger brother of painter Johann Caspar Herterich. He taught at the Kunstschule Stuttgart and then from 1898 as a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. Johanna Stegen
Johanna Stegen, (11 January 1793, Lüneburg - 12 January 1842, Berlin) was a German heroine of the Napoleonic Wars. On 2 April 1813, German troops (made up of the fusiliers and volunteer Jägers of the 1st Pommerschen infantry regiment) clashed with Napoleonic troops near Lüneburg. In the course of the battle, the Prussian regiment risked running out of ammunition, and so Stegen rushed ammunition to them in her apron, thus significantly contributing to the Prussian victory. She was glorified soon afterwards in the patriotic poems of Friedrich Rückert. In 1817, she married the Prussian corporal Wilhelm Hindersin in Berlin - he had recently become Royal Oberdrucker in the war ministry. David Karfunkle
David Karfunkle (1880–1959) was an American artist. He is known for his mural, "Exploitation of Labor and Hoarding of Wealth", painted in 1936 at the Harlem Courthouse. Biography He was born in Vienna. He studied with Ludwig von Herterich, and Antoine Bourdelle. He studied at the National Academy of Design, with William Glackens. Schloss Wolfsbrunn
Schloss Wolfsbrunn is the local name for an imposing hotel building in the village of Stein in the borough of Hartenstein in the south of Zwickau district in the German state of Saxony. It was built in 1911 as the villa of a wealthy mining businessman. Since 1997 it has been owned by the Leonhardt brothers (Leonhardt Group). History The villa was built in the years 1911–1913 in the Poppenwald forest not far from Stein Castle and near the river Zwickauer Mulde as a property for the major industrialist and mining businessman, Dr. Karl Georg Wolf. The plans for this art nouveau structure were drawn up by Munich architect (''Baumeister''), Emanuel von Seidl.
