''Lucky Me'' is the third and final studio album by the American hardcore punk band Killing the Dream. The album was released on November 22, 2010, through Deathwish Inc. The title of the album is said to be "sarcastic in a sense, but is really genuine in another" by vocalist Elijah Horner, who saw himself as lucky to be where he was in his life during the recording of ''Lucky Me''. Killing The Dream
Killing the Dream was an American hardcore punk band from Sacramento, California, that formed in 2002 and broke up in 2011. The group signed to Deathwish Inc. in 2004, and released three studio albums through the label: '' In Place Apart'' (2005), ''Fractures'' (2008) and '' Lucky Me'' (2010). History Killing the Dream formed in Sacramento in 2002 with guitarist Joel Adams of Embrace the End, bassist Chris Chase, drummer Isaac Fratini and vocalist Elijah Horner. After recording a five-song demo tape in 2003, the group added second guitarist Bart Mullis—also of Embrace the End. The songs from this demo made up half of their self-titled debut album, released in 2004 through Rival Records. Killing the Dream signed to Deathwish Inc. in December 2004, and first released the 7-inch EP ''I Rewrote It'' through the label in early 2005. Hardcore Punk
Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. Its roots can be traced to earlier punk scenes in San Francisco and Punk rock in California, Southern California which arose as a reaction against the still predominant History of the hippie movement, hippie cultural climate of the time. Melodic Hardcore
Melodic hardcore is a broadly defined subgenre of hardcore punk with a strong emphasis on melody in its guitar work. It generally incorporates fast rhythms, melodic and often distorted guitar riffs, and vocal styles tending towards shouting and screaming. Nevertheless, the genre has been very diverse, with different bands showcasing very different styles. Many pioneering melodic hardcore bands (such as Bad Religion and Descendents), have proven influential across the spectrum of punk rock, as well as rock music more generally. Deathwish Inc
Deathwish, Inc. is an American independent record label conceived by Jacob Bannon of Converge and Tre McCarthy in 2000. Their first release was '' Deeper the Wound'', a split album between Converge and Japanese band Hellchild on April 23, 2001. Deathwish established itself quickly, working with a diverse group of bands and eventually becoming one of the most respected and innovative labels in contemporary hardcore punk and aggressive music in general. Kurt Travis
Kurt Travis (born January 16, 1987) is an American singer, musician, and songwriter from Sacramento, California. He is currently part of the post-hardcore bands Royal Coda and Push Over and the math rock duo Gold Necklace, and was formerly a vocalist in the rock bands Dance Gavin Dance and A Lot Like Birds. Travis began his musical career in 2001. He joined post-hardcore band Five Minute Ride, releasing the extended plays (EPs), ''Bathroom Walls... Lipstick Secrets'' in 2003, and ''The World Needs Convincing of All That It's Missing'', on Rise Records, in 2005 before disbanding later that year. Jacob Bannon
Jacob Bannon (born October 15, 1976) is an American musician who is the vocalist, lyricist and graphic artist for the metalcore band Converge. He is the co-founder and owner of the record label Deathwish Inc. and the author of many visual works for independent punk rock and heavy metal musicians. Bannon has also composed and performed experimental music as Supermachiner with Ryan Parker and more recently as Wear Your Wounds. Personal life Bannon was born in 1976. He grew up splitting his time between Andover in the Merrimack Valley, Charlestown, and East Boston on some weekends. At 17, he graduated High School early and chose to work until heading to college. Converge is an American hardcore punk band formed by vocalist Jacob Bannon and guitarist Kurt Ballou in Salem, Massachusetts in 1990. During the recording of their seminal fourth album ''Jane Doe'', the group became a four-piece with the departure of guitarist Aaron Dalbec and the addition of bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller.
