''Love Lies in Ashes'' is the first EP by American deathcore band Carnifex. It was self-released at the end of 2006. On March 13, 2007, online stores such as iTunes and Amazon started selling the MP3 version. Background The EP was recorded in 2006 and was released originally on March 13, 2007 through Acropolisrpm Records. After releasing a self-titled demo through Enclave Records, James and Vargas departed, and were replaced by bassist Steve McMahon and guitarist Travis Whiting, resulting in the EP ''Love Lies in Ashes''. Carnifex (band)
Carnifex is an American deathcore band from San Diego County, California. Formed in 2005, they are currently signed to Nuclear Blast after having been signed to Victory Records. They have released eight full-length albums and three EPs. Since 2022, the band has consisted of founding members, lead vocalist Scott Ian Lewis and drummer Shawn Cameron, along with rhythm guitarist Cory Arford, bassist Fred Calderon and lead guitarist Neal Tiemann. History Formation and early recordings (2005–2006) Carnifex was founded in December 2005 in Fallbrook, California. They debuted their career with a self-titled EP, which was released on May 18, 2006. It features five tracks and was distributed through Enclave Records. In September 2006, Rick James and Kevin Vargas left the band. Deathcore is an extreme metal subgenre that combines death metal with metalcore. The genre consists of death metal guitar riffs, blast beats, and metalcore breakdowns. Dead In My Arms
''Dead in My Arms'' is the debut studio album by American deathcore band Carnifex. It was released on July 12, 2007 through This City Is Burning Records. It is the band's only album with bassist Steve McMahon, as he left shortly after the album's release, and was replaced by Fred Calderon, who has played on all of Carnifex's albums since then. It was also the band's only album recorded as quartet until the release of ''Graveside Confessions'' in 2021. The album is released as both a jewel case and a digipak. The jewel case version of the album is rarer than the digipak. Background Carnifex were briefly signed to This City Is Burning in 2007, during so the group wrote and recorded ''Dead in My Arms'' during the proceeding months. Upon the album's release in June 2007, it managed to sell over 5,000 copies in its first week despite very limited publicity.
