"Love Is Dead" is the first single from Brett Anderson's first solo album, ''Brett Anderson''. It was released on two CD singles and 7" vinyl. A download bundle was also available. The sleeve was designed by Peter Saville, with photography by Wolfgang Tillmans. The music video was directed by Russell Thomas. The single reached number 42 on the UK Singles Chart. It was well-received by critics. Brett Anderson
Brett Lewis Anderson (born 29 September 1967) is an English singer best known as the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of the band Suede. After Suede disbanded in 2003, he fronted The Tears with former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler in 2004-2006, and released four solo albums in which he also played guitar and keyboards. Anderson is known for his distinctive wide-ranging voice, poetic lyrics, energetic and charismatic stage presence and, during Suede's early days, an androgynous appearance. Suede re-formed in 2010; they continue to record and tour. Bassist Mat Osman and Anderson are the remaining original members since the band's inception, and along with drummer Simon Gilbert have appeared on all Suede albums. ''Brett Anderson'' is the first solo release from Suede and The Tears frontman Brett Anderson. It was released on 26 March 2007 by Drowned in Sound Recordings. Background In May 2006, Anderson announced sketchy details for the album. He told ''NME'' that the title will be 'Brett Anderson' since "...that's my name, you see." The album was recorded whilst Anderson was recording The Tears' debut album alongside Bernard Butler. Anderson has described the record as being "...quite orchestrated, lots of string loops, that sort of thing. I guess there's a Scott Walker feel to it. I'm very proud of it; it's a very exciting record for me." The album sees Anderson taking on many more instruments than ever before. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. ''Drowned in Sound'', sometimes abbreviated to ''DiS'', is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums. "Back to You" is the second solo single by Suede frontman Brett Anderson. It was released in July 2007. The single was a collaboration with Norwegian electro pop producer Fred Ball (aka Pleasure). It was previously released on the second ''Pleasure'' album. The song was previewed by Anderson during his May 2007 concert tour. The version on Anderson's ''Wilderness'' album features vocals from French actress Emmanuelle Seigner. The song became a favourite of Anderson's live shows and it was well-received. The Tears
The Tears were an English rock group formed in 2004 by ex-Suede bandmates Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler, along with the former Delicatessen and Lodger members Will Foster (keyboardist), bassist Nathan Fisher, and Bernard Butler session drummer Makoto Sakamoto. The duo Anderson and Butler were a much anticipated reunion and music critics praised their first concerts and only album, '' Here Come the Tears''.
