Love, Lies (2016 Film)
''Love, Lies'' () is 2016 South Korean period drama film directed by Park Heung-sik, reuniting '' The Beauty Inside'' co-stars Han Hyo-joo, Chun Woo-hee and Yoo Yeon-seok. The story takes place in 1943, during the Imperial Japanese occupation of Korea. In the film, best friends Jung So-yul (Han Hyo-joo) and Seo Yeon-hee (Chun Woo-hee) are two of the last remaining ''gisaeng''. Although they enjoy pop music, they are committed to singing '' jeongga'', or classical Korean songs. So-yul's life falls apart when her lover, pop music producer Kim Yoon-woo (Yoo Yeon-seok), falls in love with Yeon-hee and helps her debut as a pop singer. The story follows So-yul's downward spiral as she is consumed by uncontrollable jealousy. The film was released on April 13, 2016. Park Heung-sik (born 1965)
Park Heung-sik (; born 1965) is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. Career Park Heung-sik studied Astronomy and Atmospheric Sciences at Yonsei University. After graduating in the 8th class of the prestigious Korean Academy of Film Arts, Park first trained as an assistant director under Park Kwang-su and Hur Jin-ho. As seen in his feature directorial debut ''I Wish I Had a Wife'' (2001), Park focuses on capturing the delicate flow of emotions that reveal themselves in the ordinary routines of the day. His second film, ''My Mother, the Mermaid'' (2004) was an acting showcase for Jeon Do-yeon in dual roles, making more apparent Park's talent in drawing natural acting from his actors and capturing it within the lyrical frame of his film. The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF, previously Pusan International Film Festival, PIFF), held annually in Haeundae-gu, Busan (''also'' Pusan), South Korea, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. Lee Nan-young (; June 6, 1916 – April 11, 1965) was a Korean singer and actress most famous for the 1935 hit trot song "", which sold 50,000 copies. Biography Lee was born in Japanese Korea, in the port city of Mokpo, South Jeolla Province. Her name at birth was Lee Ok-soon (이옥순), but it was later changed to Lee Ok-rye (이옥례). Her father's name was Lee Nam-soon (이남순) and she had a brother, , who was a composer. She had a difficult childhood and did not graduate from school.
