''Love's Ups and Downs'' is the seventh solo studio album by American country singer Barbara Mandrell, released in November 1977. This was Mandrell's second album released in 1977. The previous album released two singles, one of which was a Top 5 hit. This album also released two singles. Both singles became Top 10 hits on the Billboard Country charts, the first time Mandrell had two solo Top 10 hits in a row. The first single, " Woman to Woman" peaked in the Top 5 and was a major hit that year. The song also marked the first time one of Mandrell's singles peaked inside the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, only peaking at #92. It also was the first time one of Mandrell's songs reached the Adult Contemporary charts, but again, it was not a major hit, only reaching the Top 50. The second single, "Tonight" was another Top 5 hit, but did not chart on the Hot 100 or Adult Contemporary charts. Homer Banks
Homer Banks (August 2, 1941 – April 3, 2003) was an African American songwriter, singer and record producer. Although best known by many for his songwriting for Stax Records in the 1960s and 1970s, some of his own releases from the 1960s are considered classics on the Northern Soul scene. Many of the songs he wrote have become contemporary classics. Life Banks was born in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, and at the age of 16 formed the Soul Consolidators gospel group which toured around the southern states, often performing his own material. After military service, he returned to Memphis in 1964, and started a singing career with the small Genie label where he met Isaac Hayes and David Porter. Soon, Stax founder Estelle Axton hired him to work at the record shop attached to the company's Satellite Studios, where he stayed for three years, also recording for the Minit label. Hargus "Pig" Robbins
Hargus Melvin Robbins (January 18, 1938 – January 30, 2022), known by his nickname "Pig," was an American session keyboard player. Having played on records for many artists, including John Stewart, Dolly Parton, Connie Smith, Patti Page, Loretta Lynn, Kenny Rogers, George Jones, Charlie Rich, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, J.J. David Briggs (American Musician)
David Paul Briggs (born March 16, 1943 in Killen, Alabama, United States) is an American keyboardist, record producer, arranger, composer, and studio owner. Briggs is one of an elite core of Nashville studio musicians known as "the Nashville Cats" and has been featured in a major exhibition by the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015. He played his first recording session at the age of 14 and has gone on to add keyboards to a plethora of pop, rock, and country artists, as well as recording hundreds of corporate commercials. Charlie McCoy
Charles Ray McCoy (born March 28, 1941) is a Grammy-winning American session musician, harmonica player, and multi-instrumentalist. In 2009, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Based in Nashville, McCoy's playing is heard on recordings by Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Chet Atkins, Waylon Jennings, Leon Russell, and Loretta Lynn. The Jordanaires were an American vocal quartet that formed as a gospel group in 1948. "How Long" is the debut single by the English band Ace, from their 1974 debut album ''Five-A-Side''. It reached No. 3 in the US and Canadian charts, and No. 20 on the UK Singles Chart. In a 1981 issue of ''Smash Hits'', Phil Collins named the song as one of his top 10 favourites, describing it as a "classic single". Background Although widely interpreted as being about adultery, the song was in fact composed by lead singer Paul Carrack upon discovering that bassist Terry ("Tex") Comer had been secretly working with the Sutherland Brothers and Quiver.
