Love's Greatest Mistake
''Love's Greatest Mistake'' is a 1927 American silent drama film directed by A. Edward Sutherland and starring Evelyn Brent. The film is now lost. Plot Honey McNeil (Josephine Dunn) comes to New York expecting to have a rather dull time under her sister’s chaperonage. But when she walks in on her sister (Evelyn Brent) clasped in the arms of a man other than her husband, Honey complacently adopts the new standard, and plays around with the rich banker she has met on the train (Frank Morgan), to the distress of her poorer, but more sincere sweetheart (James Hall), who naturally mistrusts the really innocent friendship. This is Love’s greatest mistake—lack of faith. The banker writes more or less incriminating letters, which Don Kendall (William Powell) seeks to obtain from Honey for blackmail purposes, but Honey has successfully hidden them. William LeBaron
William LeBaron (February 16, 1883February 9, 1958) was an American film producer. LeBaron's film credits included '' Cimarron'', which won the Academy Award for Outstanding Production at the 4th Academy Awards ceremony for 1930/1931. LeBaron also produced landmark comedy features from W. C. Fields, Mae West and Wheeler and Woolsey. In addition to being a producer, LeBaron served as the last production chief of Film Booking Offices of America and at FBO's successor, RKO Pictures, where he was replaced by David O. Selznick. Josephine Dunn
Mary Josephine Dunn (May 1, 1906 – February 3, 1983) was an American stage and film actress of the 1920s and 1930s. Early years Dunn was born in New York City and educated at Holy Cross convent school. Career At age 14 and a 5'5" tall blonde, Dunn started out as a member of the chorus at the Winter Garden Theatre. Her first appearance was in the chorus of "Good Morning Dearie." Rather than return to school she continued in her Broadway career, appearing in almost 20 productions including the ''Ziegfeld Follies'', ''Between Two Worlds'' (1934), ''Take a Chance'' (1932), ''Pickwick'' (1927), ''Dear Sir'' (1924), and ending her Broadway run with "Kid Boots." James Hall (born James E. Brown; October 22, 1900 – June 7, 1940) was an American film actor. Career Born in Dallas, Texas, Hall debuted as an actor at age 15 in the ''Ziegfeld Follies''. Hall began his film career during the silent film era. He made his sound film debut in the 1929 film ''The Canary Murder Case'', opposite William Powell and Louise Brooks. In 1930, he co-starred in Howard Hughes' epic film, '' Hell's Angels''. His last film role was in the 1932 drama '' Manhattan Tower''. In the following years, he headlined in vaudeville at the Loew's State Theatres in 1932 and 1933 and in such independent stage productions as Ches Davis's 1934 edition of the ''Chicago Follies'' and in another show, the ''Showboat Follies'' at the Deadwood Theatre in South Dakota (1934). At the time of his death, he had fallen into obscurity and had been earning his livelihood by performing in small nightclubs and cabarets in New Jersey and New York.
