"Lord of the Flies" is an Iron Maiden single and second track on their 1995 album ''The X Factor''. The song is based on the book and film of the same name. Background The single was only released outside of the UK. Additional tracks on the single include covers from UFO and The Who. These tracks were later released in the UK on CD1 of the "Virus" single. Iron Maiden frequently performed this song live during their ''Dance of Death'' tour from 2003–2004, making it one of only 5 Bayley era songs to remain in live set lists after his departure (the others being "Man on the Edge", "Sign of the Cross", "Futureal", and "The Clansman"). One such performance of this song is included on Iron Maiden's 2005 live album "Death on the Road". The guitar solo in their single, "Lord of the Flies" is played by Janick Gers. Iron Maiden
Iron Maiden are an English heavy metal band formed in Leyton, East London, in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. Michael Schenker
Michael Schenker (born 10 January 1955) is a German guitarist. He played in the rock band UFO and leads the Michael Schenker Group. He was an early member of the hard rock band Scorpions, a band co-founded by his elder brother Rudolf Schenker. In the mid-1970s, Schenker joined UFO, playing lead and rhythm guitar. He left the band in 1978 to found the Michael Schenker Group. He has rejoined UFO three times, producing an album each time. Schenker continues to perform and record. Nicko McBrain
Michael Henry "Nicko" McBrain (born 5 June 1952) is an English musician, best known as the drummer of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden since 1982. Having played in small pub bands since 1966 from the age of 14, McBrain paid his bills after graduating from school with session work before he joined a variety of artists, such as Streetwalkers in 1975, Pat Travers, and the French political band, Trust. He joined Iron Maiden (replacing Clive Burr), in time to debut on their fourth album ''Piece of Mind'' (1983), and has remained with them since, contributing to a total of fourteen studio releases, as well as being the third-longest serving member of the band. Dave Murray (musician)
David Michael Murray (born 23 December 1956) is an English guitarist, best known as a member of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden. He joined Iron Maiden early in its history, and is the second-longest serving member of the band after founder Steve Harris. Murray and Harris are the only members of Iron Maiden to have appeared on all of the band's releases. Growing up in various areas of London, Murray became a member of a metalhead gang fighting skinheads before he took an interest in rock music at 15 and formed his first band Stone Free with Adrian Smith. After leaving school at 15, he regularly answered advertisements which appeared in ''Melody Maker'' before auditioning for Iron Maiden in 1976.
