Looney Tunes Collector's Vault
''Looney Tunes Collector's Vault'' is a series of 2-disc Blu-rays from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Warner Archive division collecting various ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' theatrical animated short subjects from Warner Bros. Cartoons. It is the spiritual successor to the ''Looney Tunes Collector's Choice'' Blu-ray series. Unlike the previous ''Collector's Choice'' series - which only contained a single disc with 25 cartoons - ''Collector's Vault'' contains two discs with 50 cartoons. The first disc contains 24 shorts never-before-remastered on DVD or Blu-ray (and one double-dip), while the second disc contains 25 shorts previously released on DVD making their Blu-ray debut. Blu-ray (Blu-ray Disc or BD) is a digital optical disc data storage format designed to supersede the DVD format. It was invented and developed in 2005 and released worldwide on June 20, 2006, capable of storing several hours of high-definition video ( HDTV 720p and 1080p). Mel Blanc
Melvin Jerome Blanc (born Blank ; May 30, 1908 – July 10, 1989) was an American voice actor and radio personality whose career spanned over 60 years. During the Golden Age of Radio, he provided character voices and vocal sound effects for comedy radio programs, including those of Jack Benny, Abbott and Costello, Burns and Allen, The Great Gildersleeve, Judy Canova and his own short-lived sitcom. Blanc became known worldwide for his work in the Golden Age of American Animation as the voices of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, Sylvester the Cat, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, the Tasmanian Devil, and numerous other characters from the ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' theatrical cartoons. ''Looney Tunes Super Stars'' is a series of nine Looney Tunes DVDs consisting of two Bugs Bunny DVDs and other characters who got their own collections. It started on August 10, 2010, and ran until April 23, 2013. The ''Looney Tunes Golden Collection'' is a series of six four-disc DVD sets from Warner Home Video, each containing about 60 ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' animated shorts originally released from the 1930s to 1960s. The initial run of the series was in folding cardboard packaging issued gradually from October 28, 2003, to October 21, 2008. A boxed set combining all six volumes was released in 2011, and each volume was reissued separately in standard Amaray-style cases in 2020. ''Of Fox and Hounds'' is a 1940 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' directed by Tex Avery. The short was released on December 7, 1940, and introduces Willoughby the Dog. Avery performed the voice of Willoughby, and Mel Blanc voiced George the Fox and the bear's yells. The short is an attempt to duplicate the success of the 1940 Bugs Bunny short ''A Wild Hare'' by giving another anthropomorphic animal the same unflappable demeanor. The names of Tex Avery, Dave Monohan, Carl W. Stalling, and possibly Charles McKimson intentionally draft numbers in the credits. ''Double or Mutton'' is a 1955 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Chuck Jones. The short was released on July 23, 1955, and is the third cartoon featuring Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog. Mel Blanc provided for the voices of all the characters in this cartoon; however, like all Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog shorts, this short is mostly composed of visual gags. The title is a play on the gambling wager double or nothing.
