95th Street–Longwood Station
95th Street–Longwood Manor station is a commuter railroad station on Metra's Rock Island District line in the Longwood Manor neighborhood of the Washington Heights section of Chicago, Illinois, at 9501 South Vincennes Avenue at the corner of 95th Street ( US 12- 20). It is from LaSalle Street Station, the northern terminus of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Longwood is in zone 2. , 95th Street–Longwood is the 204th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 64 weekday boardings. As of 2022, 95th–Longwood Manor is served by 17 trains (eight inbound, nine outbound) on weekdays. It is served during peak hours only, although it does get served by some reverse peak trains. The station is little more than an open acrylic glass shelter and is used only during rush hours. Longwood Station (MBTA)
Longwood station is a light rail station on the MBTA Green Line D branch, located on Chapel Street in Brookline, Massachusetts, on the border with Boston, just north of Longwood Avenue. It serves the western half of the Longwood Medical Area, the Colleges of the Fenway, and residential areas of Brookline. The station opened with the rest of the line on July 4, 1959. After renovation work completed in 2009, Longwood station is accessible from both Chapel Street and Riverway Park. History Original stations The Boston and Worcester Railroad opened a branch from Brookline Junction to Brookline on April 10, 1848. There was one intermediate station on the branch – Longwood just south of Longwood Avenue. The Charles River Branch Railroad extended the Brookline branch to Newton Upper Falls in November 1852 and to Needham in June 1853, keeping the original B&W station for its service. Longwood Medical Area Station
Longwood Medical Area is a light rail stop on the MBTA Green Line E branch, located in the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. It is the named for the adjacent Longwood Medical Area. History Until the completion of the Huntington Avenue subway from to a portal near Opera Place on February 16, 1941, streetcars ran on the surface from the Boylston Street portal. Like other surface stops on the median-reservation section of the line, Longwood Avenue station had bare asphalt platforms. In 1972, the MBTA began planning a reconstruction of that section of the line, then scheduled for 1973-74. The work was eventually done in 1980, when the line was closed to modify the track and wires for the new LRVs. The line was cut back to Symphony on March 21, 1980; it was re-extended to Northeastern (using LRVs) on June 21 and Brigham Circle on September 20. The Longwood Avenue station is a local station on the IRT Pelham Line of the New York City Subway. It is served by the 6 train at all times and is located at Longwood Avenue and Southern Boulevard in the Longwood neighborhood of the Bronx. The station opened in 1919 as part of an extension of the Pelham Line of the Interborough Rapid Transit Company, and had its platforms extended in the 1960s. Further renovations were completed in 2019 and 2020. History This station opened on January 7, 1919 as part of the extension of the Pelham Line from Third Avenue–138th Street to Hunts Point Avenue. The extension was completed by the Interborough Rapid Transit Company as part of the Dual Contracts with the New York City. Longwood station is a train station in Longwood, Florida, served by SunRail, the commuter train of Central Florida. The station opened May 1, 2014, and marks a return of passenger rail service in Longwood dating back to the community's days as a junction of the South Florida Railroad, Orange Belt Railway and old Florida Midland Railway, all of which were acquired by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. Unlike most SunRail stations, which feature canopies consisting of white aluminum poles supporting sloped green roofs, Longwood's canopies have traditional brown gabled roofs with cupolas and faux dormer windows. It also includes ticket vending machines, ticket validators, emergency call boxes, drinking fountains, separate platforms designed for passengers in wheelchairs.
