Corfield is a town and locality in the Shire of Winton in north-western Queensland, Australia. In the , Corfield had a population of 183 people. Geography The town is on the Kennedy Developmental Road—the road linking Winton and Hughenden— north west of the state capital Brisbane and south west of the regional centre of Townsville. The Landsborough Highway also passes through the locality (but not through the town) merging with the Kennedy Developmental Road just before crossing into Winton. Vergemont was a rural locality in the Longreach Region, Queensland, Australia. It was amalgamated into the locality of Longreach. Geography The locality included the Lochern National Park in its southernmost section. History In the , Vergemont had a population of 26 people. In January 2019, it was decided to reduce the number of localities within Longreach Region by amalgamating the localities to the north and west of the town of Longreach into the locality of Longreach. Lochern National Park
Lochern is a national park in Longreach, Central West Queensland, Australia, 1,047 km west of Brisbane. Eastern parts of the national park are interspersed with numerous channels of the Thomson River. The park is sprawled over an area of 24,300 hectares. This area forms important habitats for numerous species. Several lagoons and waterholes within the park provide important refuges for birds and other wildlife. History The diverse climate of Lochern was a boon for the aboriginal people, who learned to utilize the dry and wet spells. They adapted to the seasonal transformation of land, reaping its bounties. Central West Queensland is a remote region in the Australian state of Queensland which covers 396,650.2 km2. The region lies to the north of South West Queensland and south of the Gulf Country.
