The Local Government Areas (Re-arrangement) Acts 1929 and 1931 were acts of the Parliament of South Australia. The application of the acts, via recommendations of the commission of the same name, led to the statewide re-arrangement of local government areas, effected from 1932 to 1935. Parliament Of South Australia
The Parliament of South Australia is the bicameral legislature of the Australian state of South Australia. It consists of the 47-seat House of Assembly ( lower house) and the 22-seat Legislative Council (upper house). General elections are held every 4 years, with all of the lower house and half of the upper house filled at each election. It follows a Westminster system of parliamentary government with the executive branch required to both sit in parliament and hold the confidence of the House of Assembly. The parliament is based at Parliament House on North Terrace in the state capital of Adelaide. The King is represented in the State by the Governor of South Australia. The District Council of Grant is a local government area located in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia, and is the southernmost council in the state. The council was formed on 1 July 1996 after the amalgamation of the District Council of Mount Gambier and the District Council of Port MacDonnell, and currently surrounds the City of Mount Gambier. Corporate Town Of Port Augusta West
The Corporate Town of Port Augusta West was a local government area in South Australia centred on the suburb of Port Augusta West. It was gazetted on 6 October 1887. They met in council chambers in Loudon Road, which ceased to be used by its successor council upon its amalgamation, but remained in use by the community until their demolition in the 1940s, at which time the building was described as "definitely unsafe". It was not uncommon for positions to be elected unopposed or without any nominations at all; in the election of November 1903, no one nominated for either mayor or councillor. In 1923, the council controlled an area of , with a capital value of £59,710. It had a population of 384 at the 1921 census, residing in 90 dwellings. The Corporate Town of Davenport was a local government area in South Australia that existed from 1887 to 1932 on land now located within the suburb of Port Augusta. A proposal to create a new local government area consisting of suburbs "annexed to the existing Corporation of Port Augusta" was discussed by residents interested in "the subject of local self-government" as recently as February 1887. On 1 March 1887, a meeting at the Pastoral Hotel agreed boundaries for a new corporation to be called ''Davenport'' which was to consist of three wards named ''First'', ''Second'' and ''Third'' and signed a petition arguing for the creation of the new corporation. The corporation was gazetted by the Government of South Australia on 25 August 1887. The District Council of Dalkey was a local government area seated at Owen in South Australia from 1875 to 1932. History The District Council of Dalkey was officially proclaimed as incorporating the entire Hundred of Dalkey on 25 March 1875. The five inaugural councillors appointed on the date of the proclamation were John Fisher, Edward George Gibbs, Isaiah Hill, Richard Keane Spotswood, and Gottlieb Trager. The District Council of Alma Plains was a local government area in South Australia seated at Alma from 1870 to 1932. History The District Council of Alma Plains was proclaimed on 8 December 1870 in spite of opposition from Stockport and Rhynie council members representing the interests of ratepayers in those townships west of the Alma Range ridge line. The new district enclosed the west of the Hundred of Alma and was carved from north west of Stockport district and west of Rhynie district, with the new eastern boundary of Alma Plains lying approximately on the ridge line of the Alma Range.
