Anita Lobel (née Kempler; born June 2, 1934) is a Polish-American illustrator of children's books, including ''On Market Street'', written by her husband Arnold Lobel and a Caldecott Honor Book for illustration, ''A New Coat for Anna'', ''Alison's Zinnia'', and ''This Quiet Lady''. ''One Lighthouse, One Moon'', one of three books she created about her cat, Nini, is a New York Times Best Illustrated Book. Her childhood memoir, ''No Pretty Pictures'', was a finalist for the National Book Award. Biography She was born in Krakow, Poland, to a merchant family. When she was five years old, World War II began and she, her brother and their nanny, whom they called Niania, were forced into hiding for the next four and a half years, first in the countryside, then in a ghetto, and finally in a convent, where the Nazis caught them. Ofir Lobel, (Hebrew אופיר לובל) one third of The Prozak Trio, a successful Israeli comedy group, is an actor, a singer-songwriter, screenplay writer and a multimedia director. Biography Ofir was born on May 25, 1976, to his Israeli parents Ron and Judith Lobel who were students at Bologna University in Italy, where he spent the first few years of his life. He is a descendant of well known Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech Spira of Dinov During his high school years, at Kibbutz Yad Mordechai in the south of Israel, Ofir studied guitar at the local music conservatory. His grandson Morris, emigrated to the United States in 1911 at the age of seventeen. Rob Lobel (born June 2, 1966 in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian curler from Thornhill, Ontario. He currently skips his own team. Career Lobel played second for Steve Hartley at the 1984 Junior Provincial Curling Championship, in which the team won, earning them the right to represent Ontario at the 1984 Canadian Junior Men's Curling Championship. The team was coached by his father Art. There, team finished with a 7–4 record, in fourth place. In his first men's provincial championship, Lobel skipped his men's team to a fourth-place finish at the 2008 provincial championship, losing to Mike Harris in the 3-4 game. The following season, his team made it to the 2009 TSC Stores Tankard and placed sixth with a 4-5 record. He is best known for playing the role of Jay Hogart in the teen drama '' Degrassi: The Next Generation'' as well as his work as picture editor of the HBO Max series ''Detention Adventure''. Mathias de l'Obel, Mathias de Lobel or Matthaeus Lobelius (1538 – 3 March 1616) was a Flemish physician and plant enthusiast who was born in Lille, Flanders, in what is now Hauts-de-France, France, and died at Highgate, London, England. He studied at the University of Montpellier and practiced medicine in the low countries and England, including positions as personal physicians to two monarchs. A member of the sixteenth-century Flemish School of Botany, he wrote a series of major treatises on plants in both Latin and Dutch. Mary Doreen Lobel (née Rogers) (25 June 1900 – 1 December 1993) was an historian who edited several volumes of the ''Victoria County History'' and a three-volume ''British Atlas of Historic Towns''. Biography Lobel was born Mary Doreen Rogers in Bristol on 25 June 1900.. Her father, Frederick William Rogers was a stone merchant and her mother was Blanche Mary, née Lyons. The family were strong suffragists, and would entertain suffragist gatherings. She was educated at Clifton High School and helped Walter Ewing Crum with cataloging translations for his Coptic dictionary. Through Crum, she met Edgar Lobel, a research student 12 years her senior, and the couple were effectively engaged by 1918.
