Loading Medley
Loading Medley is a typical Strongman event featured in World’s Strongest Man and other similar competitions which requires competitors to carry/ drag and load a combination several heavy and irregular objects onto a platform over a course usually ranging from 10 to 30 meters. The competitor to carry/ drag and load all objects in the fastest time is declared the winner. Implements Some of the frequently used objects for these events are anchors and chains, anvils, sandbags, sacks, safes, beer kegs, wine barrels and natural stones. They usually weigh between to but occasionally can be heavier than that. Physical demands Contrary to popular belief, the weight of the objects is not the defining factor in these events. In the 19th century, the term strongman referred to an exhibitor of strength or similar circus performers who performed feats of strength. More recently, strength athletics, also known as strongman competitions, have grown in popularity. These competitions are now composed of a variety of events in which competitors have to move the highest weights possible, the winner being the one having the highest tally across all events. Magnus Samuelsson (born December 21, 1969), is a Swedish actor, former strongman and winner of the 1998 World's Strongest Man contest in Morocco. Travis Ortmayer
Travis Ortmayer (born August 9, 1981) is an American professional Strongman athlete from Cypress, Texas. He is nicknamed the Texas Stoneman due to his many world records in the Atlas Stone event. Ortmayer's strongman training complex is called "The Unit". His father, Roger Ortmayer, trains with him. He is supported by his mother, Sonja Ortmayer and his sister, Tara Ortmayer. Magnús Ver Magnússon (born 23 April 1963) is an Icelandic former powerlifter and strongman competitor. He is a four-time World's Strongest Man, having won in 1991, 1994, 1995, 1996 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest strongmen of all time. Derek Poundstone
Derek Poundstone (born September 28, 1981) is an American former professional strongman athlete from Woodbridge, Connecticut who placed runner-up at the 2008 World's Strongest Man. Derek Poundstone is also a police Sergeant for the Naugatuck, Connecticut Police Department and is the former owner and landlord of an apartment complex and gym. Strength sports Poundstone began by competing in powerlifting and progressed to become the Connecticut State Champion. Janne Virtanen (born 16 November 1969) is a Finnish former strongman who won the World's Strongest Man championship in 2000. He was runner-up in 1999 and finished third in 2001.
