"Living in America" is a 1985 song composed by Dan Hartman and Charlie Midnight and performed by James Brown. It was released as a single in 1985 and reached number 4 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. The song entered the Billboard Top 40 on January 11, 1986, and remained on the chart for 11 weeks. It also became a top five hit in the United Kingdom, peaking at number 5 on the UK Singles Chart; it was his only top 10 single in the UK. It was his first Top 40 hit in ten years on the US pop charts, and it would also be his last. In 1987, it was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song and won Brown a Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. Legacy The song was prominently featured in the film ''Rocky IV''. ''Living in America'' is the debut album in English by Swedish new wave band The Sounds, produced in 2002 under the Warner Sweden record label. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry awarded the album a platinum certification in 2003, denoting sales in excess of 40,000 copies. The album received mixed to positive reviews, AllMusic writer Andy Kellman gave it 3/5 stars and wrote "But the thing you cannot take away from the members of this Swedish group is that they know how to write and play songs". DoM is an American pop / electronic solo musical project by Dominic Cournoyer originating from Worcester, Massachusetts. With warped vocals, fuzzy lo-fi distortion, and broken Casio keyboard lines, Dom filters a DIY aesthetic through the upbeat, sunny rhythms of pop music. Career DoM's debut, '' Sun Bronzed Greek Gods'' ( EP), was released in March 2010, and received critical acclaim. It was picked up by Capitol Records/ Astralwerks (US), Parlophone Records (UK), and Modular Records (AU). DoM was asked to open for Ratatat on his first North-American tour. The album was released on 31 July 2020 through Partisan Records, less than 18 months after the release of their debut album ''Dogrel''.
