Live At The Bedford
''Live at the Bedford'' is a 2005 live DVD album by British Post Trip Hop band Second Person. This is the band's first live DVD and contains songs from their debut album ''Chromatography''. The performance was filmed at The Bedford, Balham London on 23 May 2005 but due to recording and writing commitments, it took nearly a year and a half for the DVD to be finished. Mark Maclaine (sometimes known as The Silence) is a British educator, director, music producer, founder of Tutorfair and writer. He is best known for his work as the bass guitarist and producer for the post trip-hop band Second Person. He was a co-founder of the UK hip-hop record label Dented Records and co-owner of a film company the Silence Corporation. History Maclaine started his career as a bass guitarist in London before eventually moving into music production. He began writing his own music under the name " The Silence". In April 2001, he started Dented Records with two members of a successful UK hip-hop group, Foreign Beggars. Turntablism is the art of manipulating sounds and creating new music, sound effects, mixes and other creative sounds and beats, typically by using two or more turntables and a cross fader-equipped DJ mixer. The mixer is plugged into a PA system (for live events) and/or broadcasting equipment (if the DJ is performing on radio, TV or Internet radio) so that a wider audience can hear the turntablist's music. Second Person (band)
Second Person were a British band that existed for 10 years between 2001 and 2011 and mixed influences from trip hop, jazz, hip hop and electronica to form post-trip hop. In late 2001, singer Julia Johnson and producer/bassist Mark Maclaine met, and early the following year formed the band Second Person. Drummer Álvaro López was recruited in mid-2004 to complete the final line up and their debut album ''Chromatography'' was released later that year. It went on to sell out of its initial white-label run in United Kingdom, USA and Australia through word of mouth and publicity generated by musical placements on documentaries and extreme sports films. Álvaro López (born 1979) is a drummer and producer. Julia Lois Johnson (born 1982) is an English author, singer, songwriter and a founder-member of the post trip hop band Second Person. Early life Johnson is the daughter of writer and former politician Stanley Johnson and his second wife, Jennifer (née Kidd); she has a brother, Maximilian, and their paternal half-siblings are Boris, Rachel, Jo, and Leo Johnson.
