Live Wires (1946 Film)
''Live Wires'' is a 1946 film starring the comedy team of The Bowery Boys. It is the first film in the series, which lasted until 1958 and included forty-eight films, after the comedy team of the East Side Kids was revamped and renamed The Bowery Boys. The last entry in the series was ''In the Money'', which was released by Allied Artists in 1958. Plot Slip Mahoney has trouble keeping a job. Each one he finds leads to an altercation and he loses it, disappointing his sister whom he lives with. Eventually Sach helps him obtain a job with the District Attorney where he finds some success. Through a series of events, Slip and Sach help capture several notorious gangsters, including one that was about to flee the country with his sister. Phil Karlson
Phil Karlson (born Philip N. Karlstein; July 2, 1908 – December 12, 1982) was an American film director. Karlson directed '' 99 River Street'', ''Kansas City Confidential'' and ''Hell's Island'', all with actor John Payne, in the early 1950s. Bernard Gorcey (9 January 1886 – 11 September 1955) was a Russian-born American actor. He began in Vaudeville, performed on Broadway, and appeared in multiple shorts and films. John Dornin Eldredge (August 30, 1904 – September 23, 1961) was an American film and television actor. He was the younger brother of character actor George Eldredge (1898–1977). Early life Eldredge was born August 30, 1904 in San Francisco. He was the son of a clergyman who made a speciality of dramatics at university. When he confessed to his father that he wanted to be an actor, his father grinned and said: "That's all right son so long as you are a good one." His eldest brother, George Eldredge, also became an actor.
