Live 8 was a string of benefit concerts that took place on 2 July 2005, in the G8 states and in South Africa. They were timed to precede the G8 conference and summit held at the Gleneagles Hotel in Auchterarder, Scotland, from 6–8 July 2005. Both events also coincided with the 20th anniversary of Live Aid. Run in support of the aims of the UK's Make Poverty History campaign and the Global Call to Action Against Poverty, ten simultaneous concerts were held on 2 July and one on 6 July. On 7 July, the G8 leaders pledged to double 2004 levels of aid to poor nations from US$25 billion to US$50 billion by 2010. Half of the money was to go to Africa. "Live Like You Were Dying" is a song recorded by American country music artist Tim McGraw, and was the lead single from his eighth album of the same name (2004). It was written by the songwriting team of Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman. The duo crafted the song based on family and friends who learned of illnesses (cancers), and how they often had a new perspective on life upon learning that they had limited time remaining. They decided to write a song based on the concept, hoping that it might inspire someone in such a situation. The song's lyrics center on experiencing life to its fullest, while also becoming a better person. Cesare Cremonini (; born 27 March 1980) is an Italian singer-songwriter and actor. Cremonini was the leader of Lùnapop, a successful and popular Italian pop band between 1999 and 2002. Alessandro "Alex" Britti (born 23 August 1968) is an Italian singer-songwriter and guitarist. Biography When he was 17, he started his first band, playing blues at clubs in Rome, and eventually moved to Milan. In 1989 he established the Alex Britti Blues Band. He has worked with Buddy Miles, Billy Preston, Louisiana Red and has toured Europe with Rosa King. In the mid-1990s, he toured with Francesco De Gregori. Planet Funk is an Italian electronic band. The group is composed of Marco Baroni, Domenico "GG" Calipari, Alex Neri, Dan Black and formerly Sergio Della Monica who died in February 2018. "Piece of My Heart" is a romantic soul love song written by Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns, originally recorded by Erma Franklin in 1967.
