''Live! Volume One'' is the first live album released by the O.C. Supertones. It was recorded during four different shows on the Loud and Clear tour in 2001: Casper, Wyoming, Spokane, Washington, Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon. Adam Ferry was the drummer at the time but was not pictured due to his departure. Ferry played on this record and the song "Heavens Got a Baby" for the BEC Christmas compilation. Christian Ska
Christian ska is a form of Christian alternative rock, and subgenre of ska and ska punk which is lyrically oriented toward contemporary Christian music. Though ska did not constitute a genre within the Christian music industry until after third wave ska had peaked in the general market, Christian ska continued to thrive independently into the early 2000s. Ska music came to be seen as "an excellent vehicle for exhortation and praise due to its up front lyrical style" and upbeat, energetic, joyful sound. While there were many smaller bands, ska in the Christian marketplace in the late 1990s came to be primarily represented by three bands: The Insyderz, The O. C. Supertones, and Five Iron Frenzy; all of whom were commercially successful and ministry-oriented in their own right. BEC Recordings
BEC (Brandon Ebel Company) Recordings is a Christian rock record label that is an imprint of Tooth & Nail Records. The label was formed in 1997 in partnership with the EMI Christian Music Group. The label promotes bands with more adult Christian rock sound than Tooth & Nail Records or Solid State Records, which concentrate on heavy metal, punk, and alternative rock. Hi-Fi Revival
''Hi-Fi Revival'' is the sixth studio album released by The O.C. Supertones. It was the first of three sessions the Supertones recorded in Franklin, Tennessee at Dark Horse Studios. Matt Morginsky and Ethan Luck lived together at this time and demoed over 50 songs for Hi-Fi Revival in their basement. 17 of the un-used songs made it on to their side-project album, Grand Incredible. The rest of the demos were never released. ''CCM'' characterized the sound on this album as displaying stripped down ska core rhythms, with the horn section now "providing color instead of the dominant sound." Casper is a city in, and the county seat of, Natrona County, Wyoming, United States. Casper is the second-largest city in the state, with the population at 59,038 as of the 2020 census. Matt Morginsky
Matt "Mojo" Morginsky (born June 14, 1976), is the lead vocalist of the Christian ska band The O.C. Supertones. Early years Matt Morginsky was born in Long Island to a Jewish father and an Italian mother. At age 14, he converted to Christianity. The following year, in January 1991, he arranged to meet Jason Carson, because he was interested in starting a Christian band. Personal life In 2011, Morginsky graduated from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He served as an assistant pastor at Denver Presbyterian Church in Denver, Colorado. He lives in Denver with his wife and four children. In later years he has served as the lead pastor at Grace and Peace Church in Northeast Denver, Colorado. Ethan John Luck is an American musician, producer, multi-instrumentalist and photographer who has played in several bands, most prominently, the ska band The O.C. Supertones, Demon Hunter, Kings of Leon, Morgan Wade, and pop punk band Relient K. He has played on albums for Kutless, Roper, Nikki Clan and Last Tuesday. Background Luck and fellow Supertones alumnus Daniel Spencer ran Rebel Waltz Recording Co., a recording studio based in Franklin, Tennessee. Artists that recorded there included Flatfoot 56, August Burns Red, The Send, The Lonely Hearts and many others. Luck and Spencer also had a short-lived, Nashville-based punk band called My Red Hot Nightmare. Luck continues his love of recording and engineered and produced Supertones singer Matt Morginsky's first solo record. Bill Stevenson (musician)
John William Stevenson (born September 10, 1963) is an American musician and record producer. He is the drummer, main songwriter, and the only constant member of the California punk rock group Descendents since its inception. In late December 1981, he played a few concerts with the hardcore punk band Black Flag because their drummer ROBO was detained in England after a tour there. He went on to record with Black Flag on several of their albums until 1985, including the highly influential ''My War''. After this he focused his attention on Descendents and played with the band until lead singer Milo Aukerman left in 1987. After Milo's departure, Bill and the other members of Descendents, Karl Alvarez and Stephen Egerton, recruited singer Dave Smalley of Dag Nasty, moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, and formed All.
